4 decks (instead of 2) using XDJ-AERO and Traktor.

Hi,

Does someone please know how to control Traktor Pro 3.2.0 (6) with 4 decks instead of 2 using a XDJ-AERO?
Is there a simple way I can switch between decks A/B and decks C/D (with all functionalities like cue, play/pause, tempo, volume sliders, etc...)

The XDJ-AERO's mixing mode (in my case) is set to "XDJ-AERO" instead of "PC", because I want to use it as the main mixer.
Traktor's mixing mode is set to "External". This setup works perfect for 2 decks.
I have already tried some mappings to make this work using 2 extra modifiers and 2 extra linked controls named "Deck focus selector" from Controller Manager in Traktor.
Or I'm doing it wrong, or maybe this simply isn't possible, I really don't know.

Any help would be VERY appreciated! :)

Kind regards,
Lester.

Given that the AERO does not have 4 deck control, you would have to configure some control as a modifier to shift all of the surface controls of the AERO to do double-duty. In layman's terms; the play button on DECK 1 will always send a specific MIDI code, and there is no way to change it to send a different code (as would happen when using a controller with dual-deck functionality).

So the short answer is "no," the long answer is "yes, but you have to do it yourself, and it ain't pretty."

Hi,

If someone is out there who has a .tsi file for Traktor 8 with mapping for a XDJ-AERO where it is possible to use 4 decks, please let me know. :)

Kind regards,
Lester.

Hi,

For now, it actually wasn't that hard to set the mappings right for deck C and D (On a 2 deck controller XDJ-AERO).
Almost all the needed controls are already there in Traktor Controller manager. The ones missing can be duplicated from the existing A and B controls, just point them to C and D.

But the controls with the assignment to deck C an D are mapped to physical buttons referring to deck C and D that doesn't exist on a XDJ-AERO because it is a 2 deck controller.
If you re-learn those controls in Traktor with the matching buttons of deck A and B this works. I have managed to duplicate almost every function for deck C and D (Jog Turn, Play/Pause, Cue, Sync, Pitch, Loop, etc...)

I now use the left "Sample launch" button on the XDJ-AERO to toggle between deck A and C and the right "Sample launch" to toggle between deck B and D.

But, a new problem occurs. The output volume (Channel and headphone) on deck A and C is always the same, the same with deck B and D.
I can not control the volume separately. The same with the high, mid, low and gain knobs. Crossfader probably same problem.

I know this problem makes sense because I have only 2 output channels on the XDJ-AERO.
So now I'm wondering, is there a way to fix this? Is it somehow possible to split the sound from 2 to 4 channels?
By mapping? Or something else? I would like to control the volume, high, mid, low, gain and crossfader for every deck.

I'm sure this would work with buying an external soundcard or whatsoever, but I prefer not to.

Thnx in advance!

Kind regards,
Lester.
