recover playlist in rekordbox

I deleted a playlist and would like to recover. I didn't close the program.

There's no "undo" function, but if that playlist existed before you opened rekordbox, you can restore it from the backup:

Close rekordbox, and open the following folder:

Win 7/8/10: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old
Rename one of the numbered datafile.backup.edb files (with a timestamp earlier than when you started) to datafile.edb - removing .backup

Restart rekordbox and see if the playlist is there.

Hello!

I managed to delete a playlist as well. I did as you said above but the recordbox didnt like it and now i have no playlists at all!

Is there any way I can get my playlists back?

Simon,

The instructions above were from rekordbox 5, are you using 5 or 6?

My version is no. 5.8.6

What came up was this:

I tried with all my datafile.backup.edb files but none did the job. Everytime I got this error message and empty collection, no playlists etc. When I opened Rekordbox.

Luckily for me I have time machine, so I have gone back and got an older library folder from the last back up and all my music and playlist are back, except for the last session.

I would not recommend your instructions if you use Mojave and Macbook Pro.

Maybe it works on other osx or windows?

Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

Hope you have an easier way to go back and recover in the future, cuz its and easy done mistake!

Well naturally, if you have Time Machine, that's the better option.

I'm glad to hear you were able to get it back to a useful state -- I'd suggest making a regular library backup from time to time as well from within rekordbox.
