What's the bit depth and sample rate of that WAV file you're trying to play?
Hi there,
I'm having an issue when trying to play a WAV file in my CDJ 2000 NXS2. I get an error saying E-8305: Unsupported File Format
This is the first time I experience an issue of this kind with my gear.
Any idea how can solve this thing? Thanks
Cheers!

What's the bit depth and sample rate of that WAV file you're trying to play?
bit rate is 2116 kbps as indicated in the file properties. Is there a cap limit for this in rekordbox?
That's the bitrate; not the bit depth (typically 16 or 24).
rekordbox itself is more flexible than the CDJs are in terms of supported file formats.
I see. What would you recommend? Downgrade to some other format like 320 MP3?
yeah I can't find the bit depth anywhere in the file's data?
Not necessarily - you could still use a WAV, it just has to not be an irregular combination. Have you checked the bit depth and sample rate of the WAV in question?
It could also be that it's a track from Bandcamp, which has an issue with the encoding where it thinks it's a multi-channel track, rather than stereo.
Yep, this was downloaded from Bandcamp.
Yeah, that's why... you can edit the track in a hex editor to fix it, but simpler to use another app to convert it to a different WAV bit/sample.
Here's how you show those columns in rekordbox - right click and select the appropriate fields:

Okay great!
Could you recommend one of those apps available out there to convert this? What a pain Bandcamp!
lol - we've had a chat with their technical team and they know what the problem is, so hopefully it will be resolved at some point, but it may be those are older tracks still on their system with this issue.
Conversion - almost anything, Audacity will do it, heck even iTunes can do that for you.
Right on! I'll check that out and hey! thanks for all your help.
Cheers!

@Pulse so what should the settings be? I have the same problem with Bandcamp Wav Files that have the same bitrate / bit depth as others that play.
@dj.inc > The problem is the PCM encoding. If you want to get nerdy and dirty...
Some Bandcamp content has been configured for “enhanced multichannel audio.” This is cool for applications that can use that data, and those that can’t, likely ignore it. rekordbox ignores it, but the CDJs don't. To fix it, change bytes 20-21 (wFormatTag) to a value of 01 00 (a decimal value of 1; meaning PCM):

Or just re-encode it with another app, even if it's to the same bit/sample rates.
Hi! I've had the same problem with tracks from Bandcamp, but I don't know how to make it. Do I have export the tracks to 24 o 16 bits? I'm using Audacity.
Thanks!
@Pulse How can I do that? Is there any tutorial? Which app do I need?
Pulse can you advise whether the bit depth needs to be 16 or 24 for CDJs. Thanks
@Santi > There is no tutorial, sorry; you can use a HEX Editor as shown to change the bytes as described, or you can use an audio app to cross-convert the audio.
@Colesy > A CDJ-3000 will play 16 or 24bit:
