Restoring database from Users\...\AppData folder on Windows 10

Hi!

I was using Rekordbox on my desktop, which unfortunately suffered a meltdown and couldn't boot Windows anymore. I managed to salvage all my files from a windows.old folder after reinstalling Windows. My Pioneer backups were unfortunately so old that I transferred my library to my laptop using the files from the AppData folder. I noticed that all my cue points, library, playlists etc. transferred fine, most importantly cue points, but the beatgrid information is missing (photo below).

I copied the files from the AppData rekordbox folder, and the file paths and everything should be the same as before, but I'm baffled about what's causing the issue. Is there a way to get the information back with the files I have access to (a specific file or folder)? I still have all the User files and everything from the old install. This is not the end of the world, as re-analyzing solves the issue, but I'm also curious to understand how Rekordbox handles beatgrid info.

Thanks for the help! :)

You're probably pointing to a different user path in the settings.

Open: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox\rekordbox3.settings

Find the line starting: <VALUE name="pioneerDirectory"

And check that the path to the text in the val matches the path to your current user directory.

Checked and double checked, and the paths match my current user folder. I specifically set it up to be the same so I wouldn't have to relocate any of my files in my collection for any one of software I use (MusicBee, Rekordbox, Serato, Traktor...).

Did you copy any hidden folders as well? The waveform data and beatgrid information is in the PIONEER folder. If you don't have that folder copied, or it was stored externally, then that's why it's missing.

Thank you, managed to get things sorted out now!

I don't know what had happened with the restore, as I did it twice by copy-pasting the files and folders from Roaming/Pioneer/rekordbox, but it seems that Windows simply didn't copy all the sub folders inside the PIONEER/USBANLZ folder. Now that you pointed me there, I had a closer look and noticed I was missing around 40 folders out of the 130 or so on my previous install. Thanks!
