XDJ-XZ preview not coming through headphones

I just purchased an XDJ-XZ and I'm unable to get Rekordbox's preview to come through the headphones.

Setup:

Windows 10

Rekordbox 5.8.5 connected via USB

XDJ-XZ firmware 1.10

XDJ-XZ ASIO driver

Mixer mode External

Preview volume at 80%

Headphones plugged in

Headphone volume halfway

Headphone MIX halfway

Clicking the "preview" in the software would ALWAYS play through my headphones without selecting a channel to monitor on my XDJ-RX2, but it's not working the same for the XZ.  What could be the issue? Anyone else having this problem?

My temporary fix is to route the Output Preview to Channel 3 but then I'm losing a channel to use.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry. Due to the configuration of the audio interface, it's not possible to route the preview separately. You would have to select one of the channels.

I just got my XDJ-XZ today and I'm having the same issue as you note above. It uses up one of the channels (not ideal)

I am on a MAC (OS Mojave 10.14.6) running Rekordbox 5.85 and latest firmware on my XDJ

I really use this feature and to lose it makes this almost not worth the upgrade.

Do we have a fix for this Pioneer?

I'm sorry Pioneer, but your answer simply isn't acceptable- you haven't provided a reason why the audio interface configuration doesn't work.  What's different about this audio interface than the RX-2, which the preview did route through the headphones?  Has a ticket been logged with the development team for a fix in a future release?  If not, can you please log it, prioritize it, and let users know when the fix will be patched?

Pioneer should be providing exceptional customer service in the age where Denon is clearly making moves to become the new standard.  Please step your game up here.

@Josh > I'll try and explain this in a different way...

The XDJ-RX2 mixes the audio in the software (internal mixer mode), and the hardware merely manipulates the software faders. The audio is sent to the hardware on two different outputs; the MASTER and the PHONES. This allows the preview audio to be added to the PHONES output within the software, so there is no overlap with the audio going to the master.

The XDJ-XZ mixes the audio in the hardware (external mixer mode), it sends the audio for each deck to a channel of the mixer. There are no outputs dedicated to the preview function, and this is not something that can be addressed through any fix, patch, or update.

I'm sorry, but if you want to use the preview function on the XZ, you'll have to assign it to a channel you're not using.

Thank you for the better explanation, @pioneer.  Is there no option to make the XZ also be available to use on internal mode rather than external, so the preview would go through a PHONES output and not overlap with the audio going to the master?

Sorry, the audio routing on the XZ doesn't allow that to happen; the cue for each channel is for the audio input to that channel, so there's no ability to cue audio from software which is not coming to a channel... hence the issue in the first place.

Is there a way to put the audio of the preview in the extra AUX channel?
