Rekordbox DJ compatibilty with BOTH DDJ-1000 and Xone:K2

Hi guys,

I am new on these forums, but cannot seem to find an answer to my question anywhere, therefore this post.

I am currently using a setup with 1 PLX-500 player (looking to get a second one) and an DDJ-1000 RB. The PLX-500 is RCA connected to the mixer of the DDJ-1000 (channel 3), while channels 1 and 2 of the mixer get their inputs from the regular USB connected DDJ-1000 outer players (USB connected to my laptop using Rekordbox DJ).

I am looking to add extra effects to my setup. Buying an RMX-1000 is an option, but since this is expensive, I am also checking alternatives. I checked out the Tale of Us livestream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9YVpXiXvag) and noticed that they use the Xone:K2 as an effect controller. They add all kinds of effects with the faders throughout the video, and seem to have mapped it really handy. They have it connected with their A&H Xone:96 mixer however, through the A&H linked connectivity-options, which I obviously do not have. Additionally they use Traktor, and not Rekordbox DJ.

My question: What are the connectivity options with my current setup using the mixer of a DDJ-1000, with these Xone:K2's installed as MIDI effect-controllers? Does someone have experience with mapping the Xone:K2 as an effect-controller to Rekordbox DJ?

Since these come a lot cheaper than the RMX-1000 and have a lot of mapping options, it seems like a nice option. But before splashing out the cash on these, I would like to check if it's worth it.

If someone knows better/cheaper/alternative option for adding a lot of external effects to my setup, I would love to hear it!

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Kind regards,

Nick

I wouldn't recommend the RMX with your setup as there is no send/return to take maximum advantage of it. You'd need to route the audio from the DDJ master output to the RMX and then to your speakers, meaning you'd also lose any headphone preview function.

You could certainly use a Xone K2 as a MIDI controller for rekordbox functions - you can map them to your heart's content.
