The S-series controllers are marketed and sold as Serato DJ controllers, not rekordbox. The fact that the DDJ-SZ, SX, SX2, SR, SB, SB2, DJM-S9 and DJM-900SRT were able to be added as rekordbox-compatible players is simply because rekordbox dj (performance mode) did not exist when those hardware units were created and thus we had no exclusivity contract with Serato for the software, unlike the DDJ-SZ2, SX3, SR2, SB3, and DJM-S3, which will not be available for use with rekordbox.

If you used your S-series product with rekordbox 5, you would have had to purchase a license key or subscription to use it. You are able to continue to use rekordbox 5 - we're not taking that away, but if you want to move up to rekordbox 6, you will have to register for a subscription plan, but you also still have the option to use Serato - the software for which your hardware was designed.

I also have a DDJ SX2 from what I have seen This controller does work with Rekordbox 6 but you will need to buy a service plan to use it. I am also not happy that I have bought a rekordbox Licence to find if i want to use the new version i would have to buy a plan or buy a new controller that is hardware locked to software. Good luck

Pioneer are you fucking for real?

This whole release of Rekordbox 6 has just been an absolute flop. And now this? I can't use a almost $1000 mixer with Rekordbox 6 "because it was made for Serato"? THE DECK IS MADE BY PIONEER/

This is a fucking joke, you're losing a customer after this.

Darren,

Yes, I'm F-ing for real.

If you bought an S-series controller, marketed for the purpose of use with Serato DJ software, why is there an expectation of Pioneer DJ giving you rekordbox for free?

Please explain your logic.

Darren Seriously, Your DDJ -1000 and all future controllers are been built for rekordbox only.We know this hence are trying to shift to rekordbox.Instead of making the transition easier .Pioneer seem to make it more difficult i have an sx2 and would like to see whether i am comfortable with rekordbox before moving .Instead i have to fork out for a rekordbox license for sx2.Not only that we have to fork out on a software called record buddy to move the libraries from serato to rekordbox.I believe pioneer should put their efforts in making the transition specially when there are competitors like denon in the market
