@Mike > The hardware unlocks the functionality within rekordbox 6 without the need for any keys.
I have chance to buy an open box DJM-250 mk2. It will NOT come with the bundled Rekordbox 5 key. I see that Rekordbox 6 is now out. I downloaded it and "subscribed" to the free option. I know the 250 "unlocks" the dvs mode in RB6, but do you still require the RB5 key bundled or not to get this all working?

It should be fine without the key. I got a DDJ RX, which unlock RB6, no key was asked.
Hey there, DJM-250MK2 user here.
Nearly everything performance related is unlocked except the FX2 unit.
Unfortunately I found out that FX2 unit is disabled when using DJM-250MK2, so watchout before you buy this mixer. Might be a deal breaker, as it was for me.
Mixer all great except this MAJOR issue. Why block this feature on a mixer like DJM-250MK2 which does not contain any HW FX besides the Filters? Doesn't make sense.
Pioneer, please enable FX2 for DJM-250MK2 on Rekordbox 6.
By "FX2", you mean the Color FX unit ? Really they blocked that ? If yes it's a shame !
Sound like Pioneer's marketing dudes had headaches to guess what 'lil functions to remove in RB6 for every fuc... pieces of their hardware, so as people either has no choice and take a monthly plan (to have the right to mix...) .. or hate them... I'm nearly about to sell all my Pioneer's hw if they finally don't make a move...
No, it's the general purpose FX unit where you can choose from multiple FX, beat adjust, and so on. Only one unit is available, meaning that you'll have to share the same FX bank with both channels.
Honestly I didn't even try using the Color FX Unit, I don't know if it works but I'll try next time I use the mixer. Maybe also doesn't work, who knows...
That's what's wrong pioneer, why not make the list of unlocked functionalities for each of your HW available instead of a sentence saying that some functionalities are unlocked? If I had access to that list I wouldn't even buy the mixer.
Bought this mixer and now I feel deceived and forced to buy XP1, I hate this attitude. Hopefully this is just a bug, or else I'll have to sell this unit ASAP and switch to other companies.
Was this resolved? I'm thinking of buying the DJM 250MK2...
I am running RB 6.4.0 and using a DJM-250MK2. All the functions of RB under the free plan are showing as available.
I have the DJM250...how do you get to version 6 from 5 with it?
The software will take care of the conversion during the installation. Just follow the instructions when prompted to convert your library. I highly recommend you run a Library Backup before starting the conversion just in case. Just backup the database, not your tracks.
so I plug in my mixer into the laptop...then start rekordbox...then what next please? as Im still on version 5.86
The mixer does not have to be plugged in during the upgrade. Download the update file from this site, https://rekordbox.com/en/download/. Then just launch the update and follow the instructions on the screen. Not complicated.
thanks. All done. Much appreciated.
