I'm exactly in your shoes and waiting for a DDJ800 in the mail. I think with the hardware you get a pretty robust version. I think the core lets you use hardware fx on the RMX device. Thats what I take it as.
Hi folks,
I've been a Traktor user for the past few years and now looking to move over to a Rekordbox with the purchase of a DDJ800 in mind.
My question is about the licensing and subscriptions of the software. I read that there's a free version of Rekordbox that gives you the basic functionality but also monthly subscription versions are available too. What version do you get as standard when you buy the DDJ800? I am not a pro DJ, it's just a hobby for me so will I need the full version. I'd like to be able to add effects through my sets and all that kind of stuff.
Thanks

I’ve got a DDJ800 and from what I can see the hardware licence that you get bundled allows you to do the same with RB6 as you could previously with RB5.
Just found a comparison matrix of what you get and the biggest difference for me would be the free version doesn't include the RMX station effects which would be nice but not a deal breaker for me being a hobby bedroom DJ. Not really interested in the Cloud library management either or doing B2B sets with the wife :)
TBH, the hardware effects on the DDJ-800 itself are pretty good and you're not missing much by not having the RMX effects.
