It is the same with rekordbox on my laptop and also on my samsung S9 using djay app. Both with the split output on
With the phone, it's possible it's not connecting properly as most phones have a TRRS connector with the extra ring being for a mic input, or it's possible that the output is not separating properly due to the audio subsystem.
The same goes for your laptop - some computers run their own audio device manager and don't allow for proper left / right audio separation.
Thanks. Is there a fix for this or is it possible that the splitter cable provided is faulty as it is happening on both devices. The controller has only been used a couple of times since my sons birthday on Saturday.

If you connect an output device to the cue, you should only hear one of the outputs, for the master, the other. If you hear both, it could either be the device's output / settings, or possibly the cable itself.
