Hot Cue Active Loop & Memory Cue Active Loop

It appears that it's only possible to set one memory cue point as an active loop. Also, it seems that you can do the same with hot cue's, that is only set one hot cue as an active loop. Why only one?

My question though is, which players (stand alone and all in one) support the active loop function?

As "active" yes, you can only set one per track.

As for players which support it - CDJs and XDJs (mostly the newer / top level units), I can't recall which ones specifically.

DDJ-1000 supports active loops -

SHIFT + 4 BEAT LOOP/EXIT to deactivate current saved loop

SHIFT + 4 BEAT LOOP/EXIT to activate the next saved loop from point of play.

rekordbox retains the last active (when track closed) loop but unfortunately you can't reset to the first saved loop after the last one has been deactivated using the above, so if the last saved loop is 'active' when you close a track, that loop will be 'active' when the track is reloaded.
