RB-DMX1 What am I missing???

Hi Guys,

I bought the DMX1 almost 4 year ago and I'm sure at the time I plugged it in and had a little play with no issues. I ended up having to go work overseas for 12 months so didn't use it again after this initial play - it remained in its original box. I came back just before Covid hit and have been converting my loft in the time between then and now. I have a number of fixtures up there as a game/party room. I plugged the DMX1 in for the first time last weekend and nothing. I know previously I was using RB 5 and now I am on RB 6. But I am sure all I should need to do is plug it in, assign some fixtures and press play - right? or is there something else I need to enable? I can't see anything. I can see that RB-DMX1 is detected under Audio in the preferences.

I have also plugged a DMX tester into the DMX1 and whilst usually you get one led brighter than the other to indicate polarity, for the DMX1 both leds are the same brightness. Plugging the tester into the output of a fixture without the DMX1 plugged in gives the expected reading, but once the DMX1 is connected it also gives the same results with both leds lit to the same brightness.

Am I missing something here or is my DMX1 defective?

Hey Elliot,

First check that you have the correct venue loaded and active.

Next, in the lighting fixture page, test that the lights are addressed properly by clicking on them in the grid. If they're working, they'll light up white one by one.

What is the controller you're using with rekordbox (if any)?

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

After some playing around, I have found that the polarity of pins 2 and 3 of my lights has been swapped. I swear they worked with the DMX1 previously, very strange. But all good now.

In reply to your question, I have a DDJ-RZ controller. In the website account profile option to added your hardware, DDJ-RZ is not listed in the options.
