Cdj-3000 vinyl mode sticks on and randomly engages

Just received my CDJ-3000's and it looks like I potentially have a bad jog wheel platter sensor on one of them. It randomly engages and even engages when I press down on the outer ring of the jog wheel. Gonna swap it out for another one but I figured I would post here for QA purposes and to see if there was a way to adjust the sensitivity

Hi Travis,

Thank you for posting the videos of your issues.

CDJ-3000 engineers saw your videos and some of the issues happening only on the problematic player are definitely caused by the hardware faults. Will you please contact a service center near from your place in your country for inspection?

Hi Teo and others,

Your issues have been investigated by the CDJ-3000 engineers. If you provide more information with videos, their investigation processes may be accelerated.

Sorry for all the inconvenience and thank you for your kind cooperation.

I'm also having problems with the jogwheel on the unit I've got. With the hand on the jogwheel and using vinyl mode, the song jumps backwards. The CDJ has done this five or six times since I opened the box past friday. Today I was trying to record a video using the CDJ-3000 and I was lucky enough to record the bug, you can watch it here (in the down-left corner of the image):

Is this a problem with the calibration of the jogwheel? It's a faulty unit? Could this be solved with a firmware update? Please, I need to know something before returning the player to the store.

Hey guys,

Thanks for reporting this problem - sorry to hear of this happening (and to more than one user). I've escalated this to our CDJ team for immediate response. I'll let you know if they need direct contact for any other questions.

Another bug with the unit is I can't press the source button when jog wheel issue happens.

In response to my first bug it seems to be a connection error as it glitches forward (like a bit crush sound) when I tap the side of the player and if I tap the platter on the jog wheel it will clear up momentarily.

I can post a video of the issues and if there's a place to pull logs I can send those as well.

Can you guys let us know the player firmware version, and if rekordbox was involved, that version and the OS as well. If just playing from USB, what kind of file was it, and were you playing direct on that player or linked?

Thanks!

Hi Pulse,

Firmware is 1.03

The problem in my video was with a track loaded from a USB pendrive, but I have also had the problem loading a track using pro dj link with a XDJ-XZ (track was in a pendrive connected to the XZ). Rekordbox has been also involved because I have been using it also in export mode and loading tracks from the PC, which is running latest windows 10 version.

Thanks.

Hi Pulse.

Firmware 1.03. 2 CDJ3000 linked with V10. Same problem with vinyl mode.

Thanks

Thanks for your patience -- apparently this is an issue that was caught after the units shipped; it will be addressed in a firmware update coming this week!

Follow-up; if you're not having the same problem as shown in the video posted by @Teo, please let us know the conditions under which this occurs.

Here is what I'm seeing.

1. Jog wheel engages when I press down on the outer ring. And also engages randomly even when I don't press the platter but that isn't shown in the video I linked.

2. After moving the cue point around it won't let me play off the cue or press cue and then play.

My other 3000 doesn't exhibit any of these issues and both are running 1.03 firmware.

The issue happens with link/local usb/rekordbox 5 and 6 and seems to be due to not enough clearance to the jog wheel switch sinc

Bonus video 2: tapping on the faceplate engages the platter sensor.

Thanks Travis, I'll keep you posted as to the firmware release, hopefully it addresses all of these.

Good news bad news, the good news is that all but one of the issues resolved with the firmware update.

The bad news is pressing the outer ring still engages the platter when in vinyl mode so I think it's just a tolerance issue with the jog wheel/platter and platter sensor.

Hey Travis,

Can you tell me if you have any issues with vinyl mode engaging if you tap the faceplate of the CDJ?

Hey Pulse, since the firmware update it hasn't done that anymore. I just played for an hour and everything worked as intended except for being able to engage the platter by pressing the outer ring.

It is worth mentioning that the platter on CDJ3000 #1 (the one with the problem) takes much less pressure to engage it then CDJ3000 #2.

#2 feels like all of my other CDJ/XDJ's I have.

An additional setting for adjusting the platter sensitivity might be a nice option in later updates.

Just had it do the vinyl glitch again where I could tap on the face plate and it would skip forward. As shown in my above video.

Well, after the update the CDJ-3000 no longer skips backwards when touching and moving the top plate with track stopped using vinyl mode, and seems to have better overall response, but I'm still having the same problem with the outer ring of the jogwheel. If I make slow movements with the outer ring there is no response, only if I make fast movements. In comparison with my XDJ-XZ, with that device I can perform slow movements using the outer ring of the jogs and response is perfect. You can see the actual jogwheel behaviour and the comparison with the XZ jogwheel behaviour in this video:

My friend Fran DC who also posted at the begining of the thread is also having similar problems with all his units, he asked me to post the link to his video because he can't log in right now in the forum:

Thanks guys, the engineers are looking into this and the videos certainly help. Any additional information you can provide with the consistency of this issue is critical. Thanks for your patience.

I went to a student of our Dutch DJ Academy today, to his house, because he had 4 CDJ 3000's, brand new. He had the same problem with the Jogwheels as Teo.
We'll be getting the 3000's next week if all goes well. I certainly hope they don't have the same problem and hope this will be fixed soon :-S

Is there any update to this thread. I recently had my CDJ 3000 stick in vinyl and I think the pressure plate is sticks. Any update would help. Thanks.
