New XDJ-XZ Owner - a few questions, please ...

1) When I turn the master volume all the way off (fully counterclockwise), it makes a popping noise.  Is this normal?

2) I have the unit's main XLR (L & R) going into a mixer.  When I shut the XDJ-XZ off, there is silence coming from the monitors that are plugged into the mixer.  After about 10 seconds or so, I hear white noise coming from the monitors ... so I have to turn the volumes of Left & Right channels off (on the mixer), even though the XDJ is off.  Is this normal?  Anything else into the mixer, when said item is off, I hear silence, but with the XDJ off, I hear white noise.

3) I head I can use the playlist from my iPhone into the USB of the XDJ.  Is this true?  If so, how do I make this work?  Doesn't seem to be working for me.  If you have a set of instructions, so I don't have to keep copying music from my phone, to USB, to unit - it would be better workflow as all of my songs are on my phone.

Thank you.

Hey Tony,

Hmmm... I've never actually needed to turn the volume all the way off; it's possible it's just the design of the potentiometer to de-couple the connection for a true "zero" output, but if you feel it's an issue that will cause a problem, you should consider returning it for an exchange with the retailer.

The white noise is sometimes called "air" and it's perfectly normal.

There are instructions on connecting your iOS device to the XDJ within the rekordbox iOS app; you'll need to use a Camera Kit or ethernet adapter to connect. You can not use a standard USB to Lightning cable to connect to one of the USB ports.

Hello & thank you.

This is actually the 2nd one - I'd hate to return it again, if this is normal.  The first one I had, the right deck did not light up at all, so I got a 2nd one, brand new.  So, I'm good, and no issues at all (just using this for home use / fun) ... but I was curious to know if someone can check to see if this is normal (do you experience this on one of the units there)?

As for the iphone - can you give me a link to what I would need?  I have the iPhone 11 Pro Max.  Please let me know.

As for the 'air' ... I have LOTS of pro audio stuff here, and never experienced this.  Can you kindly explain why this occurs?  I'm just curious as I've never experienced this before.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond.  I appreciate it.

Louis

The "air" is usually heard with a circuit when there's no signal, or just background hiss. The amount heard in a product depends on a number of things, but usually it's heard most in amplifiers / speaker even with no signal. It could be that yours are amplifying the nothingness - test it be disconnecting the XLR cables from the XDJ-XZ. Does it still make the same noise in your speakers? If so, the issue is not the XDJ.

Again, instructions on connecting are available within the app itself, just go to the gear icon > Support > Wired connection method with CDJ/XDJ. Additional instructions can be found here.
