DDJ-400 - No Sound Out of External Speakers

Hey guys

Just got a new laptop with the latest updates. Latest Rekordbox and DDJ-400 Firmware. Connected my laptop to controller and it all lit up as normal. Then went to play music, and it only comes out of computer. After searching for the last hour I cant work it out.

My search led me to the File > Preferences > Audio section where I do have the auto driver installed WASAPI and no idea how to get it back up after unplugging the controller and reboot the computer several times, thought it might happen automatically.

Also, thhis other button many people refer to 'PC Master OUT" I cant see at all.

FYI - I have sucessfully used the controller before on my last laptop. NO idea what to do here, so I'm reaching out. Please advise.

As I'm sure you've seen in other posts, unfortunately this is not isolated to Pioneer DJ products as this conflict affects a large number of 3rd party audio and MIDI devices. We're at the mercy of these manufacturers updating their systems and drivers to allow it to work as expected. Sorry!

Since I've posted, I contacted by phone, the Aussie support at Jands and was informed that my new 11th gen intel processer is the culprit. I spent 90min on the phone with Lenovo trying work ou the problme. All software and firmware across the board is up to date but as suggested, we tried 2 older versions of Realtek drivers to get it to work but unfortunately nothing.

Please advise.

Hey there. No I haven’t seen that at all actually. But from what Lenovo told me, it’s up to you guys to change your software now. When iPhone updates it’s software, they don’t do it to make sure it works with everyone else’s apps. Everyone has to update their app to match the new iPhone software. Surely it’s the same with you guys too? Either or both parties are saying it’s the other persons responsibility. Who needs to step up to make it happen? How can you guys collaborate with them to make it happen? So miss playing music!

I'm sorry, but this isn't a Pioneer DJ problem - other manufacturers such as Dell, HP, Acer, etc. have been issuing BIOS and driver updates to address this issue since it's a conflict between the CPU and audio chipset causing the conflict. It has nothing to do with Pioneer DJ's drivers since it's the hardware being blocked from even being identified by the operating system. I'll also add that it affects all 3rd party audio / MIDI devices, not just Pioneer DJ.

Well - so as a consumer what am I supposed to do? I have 2 brand new products that don't work with each other where each party blames the other. Will Pioneer contact Lenovo to discuss what can be done?

Again, I'm sorry that you're in this position, but as noted, other computer manufacturers have already taken steps to address this issue on their products. It's not restricted to Pioneer DJ, so we are not in a position to contact these manufacturers to effectuate a change in their products.

I love Lenovo and Pioneer products.... I'm encouraging Natasha from Lenovo to get on this thread. Is she can't is there a pioneer email I can use for you to add to the existing conversation I have with her? The pioneer one I receive is a noreply one.

Thanks for your help. Lets get this sorted for the sake of all other Lenovo users like this one:

I ended up going back to JB Hi Fi here in Australia and buying a different ASUS computer using a Ryzen processer instead of Intel. It just so happened that my wifes old Dell computer that we tested completely died, so she needed a new computer too, so luckily it worked in our favour thankfully.

The person that served me at JB Hi Fi was actually a DJ of 20 years and very well versed in computers and all the DJ specs! Couldn't believe it. Was gold to find him. He was very helpful. When I presented my predicament, he immediately said it's Pioneers responsibility to step up. You cant really expect every computer company in the world that moves to 11th gen then pretty soon to 12, to change their software to suit one companies DJ equipment. Anyhow, his thoughts and I'll have to say I agree. Thats the way it works with smartphones and apps too.

So now it finally works. You can close this thread.

No, but when there's a conflict between the CPU and onboard audio chipset which causes all 3rd party audio / MIDI / HID devices not to function, the onus is on the computer manufacturers to fix it.
