Need info re beatmatching on XDJ-700

Hi Pulse,

I am considering purchasing a DJM-750MK2 and 2 x XDJ-700, so I could use some info:

- Regarding XDJ-700, do you believe that it is possible to manually beatmatch two AIFF tracks differing by say, 2-3 bpm, having a hotcue or two, using USB, with master tempo on, sync off, so that the established sync would hold for at least 2 minutes without the two tracks going audibly out of sync? This is so that I may know whether my attention may be diverted from a longer mix, to bring the two tracks back in sync, in case I would like to DJ without using sync.

- Similarly to the above, how long could a 8-beat loop be expected to hold once manually beatmatched prior to audibly going out of sync? This is so that I may know what time I would have without need for correction prior to beginning to mix in a new track on a loop, or, for example, what time I could leave a track on loop on top of another track prior to having to correct it due to the loop getting out of sync with the main track.

Kind Regards,

Pavel

Hi Pavel,

You certainly should be able to mix without using the sync. And depending on the accuracy of the loop (and whether or not it was quantized / sync was enabled) will determine how long you're able to loop it before it comes out of sync.

Thanks Pulse, my overarching concern was whether going for a non-flagship modular system in pursuit of a hopefully better workflow with two dedicated screens as opposed to a single laptop screen would have the unwanted side-effect of a decreased BPM accuracy to the point of having the workflow gains defeated by a need to nudge the platter a little every so often. I trust that your saying 'You certainly should be able to mix without using the sync.' was meant to alleviate this concern.

Happy DJing,

Pavel
