Why is rekordbox using over 20% of my cpu at all times even when its doing nothing at all?
It's keeping your CPU company.
Seriously though, many performance-oriented applications do this at idle, it's not a concern.
Ableton Live sits around 6-8% on my computer when idle.
Serato DJ Pro takes 17-21%.
Virtual DJ occupies 11-14%.
djay Pro AI uses 12-16%.
Traktor 3 has 9-13% use.

How about this? This is 6.5.0 idling. Every 6.x version does this. After about 3 minutes of RB starting up my fans go insane. 2019 MBP 2.3 i9/16Gb. Even after a reboot, with literally nothing else running RB does this. Every single time.

Yeah for sure this is not correct. I've been using serato for about 9 years now and never noticed my laptop heating up like a BBQ and the fans going crazy.
Im opening them both up now and will leave them for a while to take a screenshot of my activity monitor after they've both settled
So serato and rb pretty much stay like this with the rb agent going up and down.

If you feel rekordbox is using an abnormal amount of CPU, first try disabling any of the modes you may not be aware are already enabled, such as Video, Lyric, Lighting, and DVS.
