[CLOSED] pioneer djm 900 with traktor pro 2

Does anyone know when the djm 900 out of the box with sync with the mixer in traktor pro 2?

I just want to map the djm 900 with the mixer in traktor pro 2. I would assume once connecting the djm 900 via laptop into traktor it would be mapped out solely with the mixer part of traktor pro 2? I have a midi controller that would use to map out all the efx, decks etc.

I would like to use the mixing part of the 900 just for the mixing part in traktor pro 2 so i can use all of its ability. Mirror the mixer part of traktor pro 2 and the 900 mixer. faders rotary low mid high and volume, so i can see on the laptop my levels and the rotary knobs of lo mid high on the screen while doing something else on the laptop. My eyes are always on the laptop to see everything thats going in my mixing.

thnx

900 or 2000? Your title is 2000 and your post is 900.

The 900 has a sound card in it so you can use it as a standalone mixer. It just replaces your external sound card and you select external mixer in TP.  Hence, no mixer section in TP.  The 900 will not be mapped out to the mixer, why would you want to when you use the internal mixer when you have a 900?  But if you really wanted to, you could.

Not really sure what you mean other than that. Your post is confusing to me. If you need more info, please be a little more clear :)

Cheers

sorry to be so confusing its actually an easy question john.

 if when u get the pioneer djm 900 right out of the box and plug into traktor is the mixer section in traktor  synced with the djm's. Or do i have to midi map it myself in traktor pro 2 ? thnx

i was told conflicting stories from both sam ash and guitar center. 1 said it the mixer part should be mapped once you plug it in (of course with the pioneer software already installed) and the other said i would have to map it myself in traktor preferences.just some input i got from these 2 retailers.

I am not sure,  To tell you the truth, I never checked as I would never use Traktor's mixer if I had a power house mixer like the 900.

The mixer IS NOT synced with the mixer functions in traktor, you will need to midi map the knobs/buttons if you wish.

However, the mixer is plug-n-play (once you purchase the upgrade kit), meaning you just need to hook up the mixer via usb and you're ready to go. But like I said, if you want the mixer on the screen to reflect the actual mixer you are going to need to midi map the corresponding knobs.

thnx housekeys! Does thatapply to the faders/crossfader/ bass mid and high as well. In the set up wizard of traktor pro 2 when it identifies the djm 900 all i desire is having the faders high mid low showing.

The rest i will be mapping with my Kontrol X1 pad.

thnx again!

@Jean,

I'm uncertain about mapping the faders, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. You shouldn't have any problems doing so. And as far as what you want to show on screen you can adjust the view/layout to whatever you want (essential, scratch, etc).

Do you plan on using 4 decks too?

At times i may use 4 decks or sample decks. As far as the layout i use, i keep the mixer section in the middle of traktor pro 2. I would select the djm 900 for my mixer and use its sound card but just want to use the mixing part of the mixer and have it mirrored with what i see on the screen as far as the mixer goes. I have the kontrol1 to map everything else. Just wondering how i would map the faders and the the rest of the mixing section or if its impossible to do? thnx housekeys for the input ! ;) maybe u know how this is done. Maybe its how I map it out in the pioneer section of the drivers or the wizard/preferences in traktor pro2? again thnx you guys !

@Jean,

I only have personal experience with midi mapping things in serato, but let me see if I can help you out to the best of my ability (I do use traktor and sometimes just cdj's as well). I just connected traktor, so let me see if I can walk you through this. With that being said, I hope someone else can chime in for verification.

If you wish to map the mixer section (I believe you need the ethernet plugged in as well), from the settings menu in traktor, click controller manager. Where it says "Device" at the top of the screen, click the box that says "Add". Once you click "Add", click "Generic Midi". After selecting "Generic Midi", on the right side of the screen right underneath "In-Port", click the drop down menu and select "DJM 900nexus". Now for the "Out-Port" select "None" from the drop down menu.

Now that you've done that, you are ready to map things to the mixer. Select "Add In" from the "Assignment Table" section. Now select "Mixer">"EQ">"High Adjust". Now click "Learn" in the "Device Mapping" section, once you have done that turn the corresponding knobs you wish to map,  notice the section between "Learn" and "Reset" has changed. If you are content with the new mapping then in the "Mapping Details" section select "Assignment" and from the drop down menu select the deck you wish to effect.

Rinse and repeat for all the other knobs you wish to change. (ie "Add In">"Mixer">"EQ">"Mid Adjust").

Good luck, I hope this was easy enough to understand.

@Jean,

Also, you're going to want Midi turned ON (on the DJM 900) when you are assigning things.
