New DDJ T1 teething issues

Hi All,

I just moved from DJM800 to DDJ T1 and haveing a couple of small problems which may not actually be problems, I'm probably just doing stufff wrong, but any help would be awesome.

1) Is sound supposed to come out of the unit when the gain on a channel is completely turned down. Mine is prettuy loud even with the gain right down.

2) The yellow light up button under the FX1 and FX2 Dry/Wet knobs don't light up when I press them. I'm guessing this is to trigger the effects on and off just with a click, buit can anyone help?

3) I want to scratch with this thing in the same way that I did with my DJM 800, but the crossfader isn't that sharp on the cut in. Is there a way to change the crossfader sensitivity or will I need to upgrade to Traktor Skratch for this? I also want to switch the fader to be 'hamster style for scratching, is this also possible? I tried clicking the switch channels in the routing option ion the preferences, but nothing happens.

Cheers and look forward to hearing back on this.

@Jason > Please double check that you have installed all the latest driver firmware, updated to the latest software, imported the proper .tsi file, and try going through the Setup Wizard again.

  1. No this should not happen. It sounds like a Mapping isn't correct and you should be using the "Internal" mixing mode in Traktor.
  2. These should light up when triggered. Also sounds like a mapping issue possibly.
  3. I'm not exactly sure about the difference between all the versions or which version you have, but I checked my TSP version 1 and you can change the Cross fader sharpness in the Preferences window, under "Mixer". It has a bar to transfer it from "Smooth" to "Sharp". I'm not sure about the channel faders either though. But hopefully the Pioneer Edition of Traktor has these capabilities in it, just check in the Preferences.

I hope this helps and you're able to resolve the issues with a possible firmware, driver update, or something that was missed. :)

In regards to #2, I believe that is for the advanced effects mode (don't have mine set-up right now).

@Jason > Sorry I haven't replied yet. I will take a look into your issue that's also in the other thread, but Pulse would be best at helping you with that since he has the DDJ-T1.

As for you crossfader problem, I do not have the Pioneer Edition of Traktor, but here is where it's located in Traktor Pro version 1.

Under "Crossfader" and transfer it between "Smooth" to "Sharp".

@Foster > Cheers for your answer, it did help

My Traktor doesn't have the Smooth and Sharp... Lame Pioneer!!

Pulse, do you know what I need to scratch. Also, is the version of Traktor that comes with the DDJT1 NOT the full Traktor Pro 2, are there more effects with the full package and how would I upgrade?

If I want to scratch and have the full effects bank then does that mean I will need to essentially buy 2 different upgrades?

Finally, Traktor Scratch pro comes with Timecode Vinyl CD's and vinyl, but is there a package that only has the software so I can just scratch on the DDJ?

Cheers,

Jason

@Jason > I wouldn't blame Pioneer on it as it could most likely be NI who didn't add it. ;)

Yes you are correct, the version that comes with the DDJ-T1 is not the full or Pro version.

Yes, there are more effects with the full/Pro version.

Yes, there is a package of just the software so you won't need the Scratch edition.

Nope, you will only need to buy 1 upgrade for 4 decks and all effects.

Traktor Pro 2 will provide you with 4 decks and all the effects. You won't need Traktor Scratch Pro unless you plan on using additional vinyl turntables or CD players with your setup via timecode. If you just plan on using the DDJ-T1, then you should be good with just the software. :)
