If the latency is down to 3ms, you shouldn't have any noticeable delay in the output, but it's unlikely that your stereo is adding delay to it so much so that you couldn't mix. Let us know what you find with another output device.
Hi,
I've seen a few threads on this here and there but none with any real solid conclusions.
I have the new DDJ-T1 using the version of Traktor that came bundled, and I have just upgraded to version 2.5 via the Service Center as well. I am using a brand new MacBook Pro 13" with i5 processor (2011 edition) and 4GB RAM. I've literally only set the controller up but I've noticed that there is a very notable latency on the output, which is going to a hifi via the 1/4 (red and white) plugs. It's enough to make mixing without using the sync function completely impossible (the cue coming from the headphones is just a little bit ahead of the output)
I ran the setup wizard and used the latency settings it suggested, as well as set the latency in Traktor's options to as low as possible (1.5ms + 1.5ms = 3ms) and it's not making much of a difference if I'm honest.
Is there anything else I should be trying here? To be realistic, the hifi device I'm using isn't great (it's pretty cheap) and I'm going to try to get a hold of something else to test to see if it's that. But I suspect that this kind of latency can only really be coming from the controller. The responsiveness to moving the faders/knobs is fine - it's only with the output.
Many thanks
Neil

Thanks, I'm going to try with a simple lead to the aux input of an iPod dock. Don't think I can get any simpler than that. If I'm still having issues after this, should I be raising a support call?
Thanks
Neil
Not necessarily -- there are plenty of things within the software or system that could be causing a delay.
So it looks like it was the hifi after all. I connected a cheap iPod dock as the output and there is no latency whatsoever. Very happy to see although to be honest I never doubted the controller or Traktor for a second ;)
This is probably fair warning to anybody who is planning on using a hifi as an output for a controller. I had my Pioneer DJM-500 plugged into the hifi previously without problems. With new tech there is no guarantee so it's definitely something to consider and if you're buying, you might want to consider a different output as well. Next on my shopping list, some of those tasty powered Pioneer speakers :)
Cheers
Neil
I wonder if the hifi had some kind of audio processing or "room effect" that was causing the delay?
Glad to hear you got it sorted, I was a bit concerned! ;)
