[SOLVED] Setting Up A Mic

Hi could some please give me some advice on getting my Mic to work with my Ergo. I have plugged in the Mic, put the switch to Mic and turned up the volume on the back of the unit and the Aux / Mic knob on the front of the unit but I am getting no output at all. I'm using VDJ Pro, do I need to adjust anything in this to get it to work?

Many thanks Guys

Paul

I have the same problem. I can also use an answer to this. I am only running LE, so I though that was my issue.

Hi Richie the solution I found out was to go to config on vdj select soundcard setup and the change the input box to microphone. This worked for me. I still have a few issues with cracking on the actual sound though when the input is changed ! No idea what it is or what's causing it but as soon as I change the input back to nothing the cracking disappears but at least the mic works I suppose which is one step closer than I was before !

Hi Gavin, sadly no I am still am having issues with this. I'm not sure if its a problem with the Ergo or vdj software. (Latest Pro version). As soon as I change the input from 'None' to 'Mic' anything I play is badly distorted. The only solution I've found that seems to work is to change the input settings back to none and then mic again a few times until eventually it works without distortion. Basically it's hit and miss as to if its going to work or not!. For info I've tried 3 mic,s one is brand new, I've adjusted the buffer setting in ASIO - nothing seems to resolve this permanently for me.

@Paul > Have you followed the following information:

Set your sound settings in CONFIG -> Sound Setup to the following:

Inputs: MIC

Ouputs: Headphones (Master: Chan 1&2 / Headphones: Chan 3&4)

Sound card (PC): ASIO - Pioneer DDJ ASIO (from the drop-down menu)

Sound card (Mac): 4-out card - Pioneer DDJ ERGO (from the drop-down menu)

Click APPLY.

Connect a pair of amplified speakers to master out1 or master out2 (depending on your connection type) on the rear of the DDJ-ERGO and your headphones into the headphone socket on the front of the controller.

MIC Support.

Both LE and Pro Full version support the MIC/AUX input of the unit. The input of the Ergo can be properly recorded and broadcast using the above Sound setup.

Using the LE skin of the Ergo, you can also use the AUX/REC button on each deck to input MIC/AUX to a deck (e.g. mix a software deck with a standard CD player)

Thanks Gavin. To confirm I do have everything set up as you have indicated. The only small difference is my master out is currently going into my pc. Everything works perfectly fine until I change the input to Mic. This is when the distortion starts. As said if I change the input back and forth a few times from mic to none and visa versa eventually I manage to get it work ok. My line of thought is that if it was a faulty mic / aux switch on the ergo (as someone else indicated it could be) then the problem would be constant and its not. I know it is definitely not a bad mic as I have tried 3 and the chances of them all being faulty are pretty low. So for me I think it has to be a software issue between the ergo (in my case) and vdj software possibly? The big concern I have is the instability of it as I found this Sunday when I was just about to start a broadcast and it all went wrong with the mic 5 mins before going on air.
