Seguir[OPEN] Some Issues with my DDJ-SX
I am hoping I can get some help resolving these issues with my DDJ-SX
I purchased the unit in August 2013
ALL of the software, drivers, firmware are up to date
I have been on hold with Pioneer tech support for over 40 minutes! So I am hoping to get some help here.
The unit has been quirky out of the box.
Here are some of the things that have been happening.
- I would load up a song with cue points but the touch pads would not light up. I would load the same song to the other deck and the cue points would line up. This problem would go on and off intermittently.
2.Sometimes I will get no reaction from the jog wheel. Load up a track and the jog wheel wont control the track. This issue was intermittent as well.
When a mic is connected to channel 3 the signal coming through the channel is not a constant signal. They only way I can describe the issue is as if it is silent, then when someone speaks you hear the vocal, but with a hiss in the background, then once done speaking it goes back to silence, no hiss. I have another DDJ and use the same mic with no problem.
The last, and most important problem is that the unit stopped playing many times in the middle of my show this weekend. What it did was it seemed like the lower half of the control unit just went dead. There was still power and the load and FX lights on top were still lit. All sound stopped, the software stopped as well. The only way to get out of the situation was to power down, then back up to restart the controller. But it kept malfunctioning throughout the night.
Please help!
Paul Anthony

First off are you using Serato or another Software program . If your are using a different Software some of different functions may not work the same . Also I need to know what version of Windows are you using . Also I have heard that some hard drives can go into stand by mode which can cause a controller to just freeze . Make sure your drive is not doing this . Also in your Windows settings, make sure that your computer is not going into stand by mode also . Have you upgraded your Pioneer Firmware yet to the latest version .
Ryan,
Thanks for your reply!
15 inch Mac book pro with everything updated! 8 gig ram
Serato DJ and all software updated as well. DDJ SX has all latest firmware.
I do use an external drive but the drive is working fine.
Would this cause all the other problems as well?
Yes it can cause lot's of problems , look up your External hard drive specs , and make sure it is not going into stand by mode . You can go into the drive's properties and turn this off . Also make sure none of your usb cords are bent this can cause huge issues .
Ryan, should I give this a try or should I just send the unit in? I have another DDJSX that works fine with the same set up. I will check the usb cord. How do I turn off stand by mode in external? it is a glyph drive.
I would try and switch the usb cords first , to see if you run into the same problem . Do google search typr in how to turn off stand by mode on my external hard drive
doing it now..thanks.
What about the issue with the hiss sound out of the mic channel 3? and the other 2 problems listed above?
On the bottom of your controlle er , is your serial number less then 1107 , if it is when the first release came out there were huge issues with the mic output . If your controller serial number is less then that number it needs to be send back for a hardware fix . The other problems all seem to be usb related .
SN is 23974 manufactured 8/2013
You are good .. Another thing you can do is in your Sound card setting for your laptop make sure you have the mic is switched to off .
Not the Pioneer ddj sound card just the main sound card for your laptop , make sure that the mic is on off postion
Let me know if its working for you
Ryan,
I am going to give it a try today but I am leaning towards sending it in.
Not happy with Pioneer DJ right now. I sent in my DDJ-SX to California over a month ago for factory WARRANTEE repair. As of today I have not been notified of the status.
When I spoke with customer service they said that the needed part was on back order. How is this possible when this is a new product and still in production?
Every time I have called the hold time is ridiculous. More than 15 to 20 minutes at least. I explained to them that this is how I make my living and needed my controller as soon as possible. If it is still under warrantee why didn't they just send me a new one?
I know this is not the place to blast someone but hopefully this will be a wake up call to Pioneer to get their service for this product and software together.. and step it up. My local service center wasn't even familiar with the DDJ-SX and I am in the NY-NJ-PA tri state area!!! Can someone please help?
Hi Paul
did you get this resolved?
cheers
Iain
No
It has been almost 2 months!!!
I don't understand how this is possible?
The unit is still in production and the last I was told was that a part was on back order. How is this possible if the unit is still being made??!!
I am so frustrated right now.
I have explained to Pioneer that I am a professional DJ and that I make my living with this gear. Obviously it does not matter to them.
Hopefully I will get some response or resolution from this post.
Hi Paul, I don't know any of the circumstances surrounding the part/fix/delay, but I will send this to someone at HQ for review. Sorry for the inconvenience and time frame and hopefully this is sorted out shortly.
I am having the same problem with my ddi sx right job wheel does not control the track when in anymore vinyl on or off. I've tried multiple usb, power out lets. The job wheel does not stop play back when your hand is on it no matter the sensitivity settings.
When boot up in service mode the jog wheel playhead indicator moves correctly, but then boot in regular mode, nothing!!!!!!!
