[OPEN] SX Master Output (DB) Volume seems lower than most gear.

SX Users:

What is the proper or correct Master Output Volume Level?

Here is what I have currently been doing:

Channel Fader Volume all the way up

Channel Trim Volume turned up to allow a good amber signal

Master Output Volume turned up to all a good amber signal while both channels are playing audio.

Channel 3 Mic Volume Fader and Trim turned up the same as above

Channel 4 Volume Fader and Trim turned up the same as above.

In addition all music files have been analayzed to 96 DB in Serato Dj, I have noticed that if music files are analyzed to 92DB its much more quiter and I do understand the Digital LED Volume Display in Serato DJ is similar to the Amber singal on the SX.

Once the SXS Volume is set then I setup the volume to the speakers.

If I add a tanduem DJ, I have noticed that all mixers and controllers are louder than the SX.  Can someone shed some light on this for me.

Hey DeeJay Mixx,

Did you get any further with this?

Although I dont think the sound is quiet, It does sound quite thin on first listen

Ive just received my SX, and one of the biggest factors in my choice was having decent pioneer audio, the standard Im used to with previous CDJ and DJMs Ive owned.

I have this thing running through a pair of ADAM A5 monitors and I think the sound is noticeably thin. Im going to double check its not the 320kbs audio files by finding .WAV Versions.

played around with the SW master, gains in Serato, and tweaked the trim gains and master on the SX mixer.  Things seem to be sounding sweet.

Im not used to SW so missed that step, I guess its all about da gain stage!

I've been using the SX since before it was launched and I have never had any issues with the output levels.

I run each channel to peak at the first orange LED, same with the master. I haven't touched any of the settings within the software for levels. My output is run (most of the time) through a DBX DriveRack PA+ to QSC K10's. I get enough level through the DBX and typically run the K10's below 12 o'clock and it's plenty loud.

What is your outboard gear?

I have also never noticed any volume issues. I didn't know there was a "proper" master volume level. i figured everything should be done on site and adjusted accordingly. Even when you have the same hardware you never have the same acoustic environment so how could there be a set standard? As far as a "thin" sound or the volume being low................ I don't encounter this. Is the master volume different than other gear? Would you expect all gear to be the same?
