[SOLVED] USB MP3/WAV Artist Label Double Ups in Display

Excuse me if this has already been addressed but I'm using my USB stick for the CDJs for the first time in ages since my RB isn't Linking up.

When I scroll through my USB stick Artist are listed twice if have tracks by them in both MP3 and WAV format.

Is it possible for Pioneer to do away with these annoying double ups?

Yes; export only one file. The system doesn't know that they're identical other than the file format, so it's up to you to remove one set of the dupes.

I don't believe he means duplicates..... IE having a couple MP3 tracks by a particular artist, and then having OTHER tracks in WAV format by the same artist doubling up the same name in the Artist List..... to be more specific:

Artist > (1) Deadmau5 > Not Exactly.mp3

Artist > (2) Deadmau5 > Faxing Berlin.wav

of course without the actual numbered paranthesis being there....

They should be able to coincide within the same artist name in that list no? of course assuming the names are exactly the same without any difference at all?

I don't think I've ever exported any mixed-format tracks to a device, but I would also expect that they'd be found in the same folder.  I'll pass this along to the engineers.

The engineers ask if perhaps you have two artist fields which are not exactly identical, possibly one with a trailing space at the end of the name?

No.

I have gone back and confirmed that it is for the different formats with several artists.

And they are indeed identical (the artist field)?  I'm asking because I want to be sure when I tell the engineers because they're asking since they weren't able to replicate the issue.

I just tried the same thing on my machine here - created several WAV and MP3s of the same and different tracks with the artist names all the same ... and they were all in one Artist listing.

Can you send the device database (located in the hidden Pioneer folder)?

Is it a PDB File?

And if so how do I send it?

What's the word on this Pulse?

I bombed up a brand new memory stick and it's still doing it?!

@MUSICHAOS > Following-up on this issue; is it still occurring with the newest version of rekordbox?

There's a reason I'm not a Silver member any more  Pulse, and I think you were the one that instigated that.

@Musichaos > If you're not a Silver member any more there's a reason for that - and its not Pulse.

Sometimes I find that the artist name looks to be identical but for whatever reason it's not read as so.

What I do in this case, is highlight all of the tracks from that one artist, and click the info pane.

In this case you'll notice that the artist tab is blank, because it's not reading them as exactly the same.

After doing this, just type in the artist name and hit enter - they should all show in the same folder after that.

Have you tried that?

@T-Top > I've had this happen to a few people - its usually the artist name has been put in with a trailing space at the end of the name so rather than "Roger Sanchez" its "Roger Sanchez "
