It should be showing data when you have a rekordbox analysed song. I can't recall if it shows when you're not using sync or if it only appears in sync mode.
It's a nice feature on the 2000 Nexus but I don't really use it. I noticed this feature is on the RX but never seems to show any data? Has anyone noticed this?

Checked again this morning and it definitely doesn't work. I've tried switching sync on too.
Richie,
From my understanding the bar count is only available when you add cue points to a song. Try adding a few cue points to a song, and you will see how it count down to the next cue.
@Alex I rarely add cue points. Sometimes add them on the fly. When ever I have used Nexus 2000's they always show the bar count on every track (not out of choice) but I've just noticed.
Richie: yeah I know what you talking about since on all of the clubs I'm playing at there are Nexus setups. But the RX it seems to work in a different way right now.
But as you saw on the reply from Puls in this thread: http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/79284509-XDJ-RX-locked-Deck-from-loading-a-mp3-file he think it will takes some time to get it fully settled. On that note it would bee interesting to see how the engineer at Pioneer work when they put together a final firmware/software, because sometimes I get the feeling that there are little too much problems that should be quite easy to spot before they release it to us end-users. I'm not here to complain just to try to improve the product and workout the bugs...

seems to be the way nowadays with a lot of companies, things are so easy to fix via software updates now they use the customers as the testers, you report something is not working well and they fix and release an update. Its hard for an engineer, who most likely is not even a dj, to find all findings being they are testing the basics of the player, we all dj differently, sort and load differently, etc.... so we will find a ton more bug then the engineers ever will. This is nothing against Pioneer, its most companies in general down to a car stereo that is faulty in a brand new car like mine, I'm waiting on a FW update from them, its sad
Or perhaps is it that customers demand too much / expect too much? Over my 16 years of working with Pioneer, I've seen how the collective ADD of the internet seems to push the implied "necessity" of updates beyond the practical threshold. Pioneer DJ used to have a line of products with a handful of SKUs. Now there are over 30 different SKUs, not counting variations in colour. It also used to be that a product COULD NOT be updated, and now we have the ability (and a fantastic one at that) to update products as we go. While these updates were traditionally to fix a problem, users are now demanding more in terms of added features or performance enhancements in upgrades, and they are demanding them yesterday. The engineers simply don't have the ability or time to test any bug fixes or new features against every potential scenario. The users are unwitting "beta" testers by their own desire to have updates as rapidly and consistently as they do. It's not by design.
I will tell you that the vast majority of these fixes and updates ARE tested in beta - I have certainly had to apply updates that had massive problems and report those back to engineers who then made changes prior to public release - but there is no general public beta, and I don't foresee that happening at any point in the future.
Back to the question at hand, the bar count does work -- I used the RX at the NAMM Show and recall it working when I was playing on it. How and when, I don't recall, and I don't have one on hand here (yet) to test and tell you exactly how it works, but once I do I'll certainly give you the step-by-step, so your patience is greatly appreciated!
I agree pulse but with decks I bought when released there were bugs that cause the deck to completely stop working. Those I would think would be caught when all I was doing was simply hitting hot cues. The decks even froze on one of your own guys while showing the deck off at a show. So we are not being pushy for additions in that case, we are being pushy for $4000 in decks to not freeze when I press A a few times in a row:) and I expect my god not to black out constantly while I drive!!!! Lol.
But all besides the point in this thread. Good luck with RX. Can't wait to see if there will be a RZ
We have stuff freeze all the time -- and pressing the A hot cue a few times in a row isn't something that's always tested by the engineers or test teams, but that's why the ability to update is fantastic. The problem is they need to first find why it happens, then they need to find a fix, then figure out if that fix changes the performance of anything else, then test it and distribute it. Not an overnight process, but everyone seems to think it should be. Quite often these issues involve several teams of engineers.
I worked in software testing for a couple of years and it's interesting to see how long testing takes before a software update can be deployed. I'm amazed at how fast music technology is moving and how often new products hit the shelves now. It's a always a good thing that firmware updates are available every so many months to fix any major issues. I agree Pulse that some people seem very demanding on here. Why can't Pioneer do this... and that... Some things are total pipe dreams but I would have thought that things like the bar count would have been spotted from the initial hardware tests. I spent an hour going over all the features and checking all worked as I would have imagined (I originally had 2 x CDJ 2000's and a DJM 800) which I sold to free up some cash after a recent redundancy - The RX seemed perfect for home use as I love the concept of using Rekordbox and want to use it for many years yet.
Is there a place to report bugs directly to Pioneer DJ? I did have an issue where I was testing slip mode and the track just quit completely and ended. It was a one off but still strange.
@Richie > This is the place to report the bugs. We report user feedback directly to the engineering teams.
As for the slip issue, are you sure the track didn't simply end? Remember, while you're in slip you can keep doing things like scratch or hot cue, but the track continues playing along as if it weren't being manipulated in any other way, and if you only had 30s left on the track when you started goofing around, the track simply could have ended, thus ending the "slip" playback.
@pulse no it was definitely about half way through the track. The slip light was flashing, I was scratching and just basically testing the platter for about 10 seconds and it was almost like the track just gave up and went directly to the end and stopped.
@Pulse> Pioneer is making a lot of great products, and I “love” the RX so far. Since both BriChi and Richie is better than me to explain what also was trying to say, but in other words, I just leave it with that I agree with them both.
And please don’t include me in the group of “customers demand too much / expect too much”. I’m only here to get some help with features that don’t work and also try to help other with problems in regard to their Pioneer products. I own a company that develops software, so I’m well aware of the process that is required to try to release problem free software to the market.
And I have said it before, you doing a great job here… ;-)
@Alex > Sorry if it seemed I was implying any of you guys (in this thread) were asking for too much. ;) Obviously with a new product there are more growing pains and early bugs than products that have been available for some time, and we hope to fix any of the issues you guys present.
@Richie > Well that certainly shouldn't happen. I'll pass it along to engineering to see if they can replicate it. Any other details you can provide (or if you're able to catch it on video) would be a great help.
The bar-count on my RX works. It shows how many bars are left before the next cue-point comes (of course only if you set cue points). And this is the way it should work i think.
@Johannes I never set cue points, however bar count always displays on a Nexus 2000. Strange! It must be a different feature on the Nexus then.
I don't actually use the feature anyway but thought I would point it out.
I also have a question about the counter. In Rekordbox you can switch between bar and beat counter. In the RX manual it's also written that you can either display bars or beats. But where can I change the settings for that?
I don't see that in the RX manual, can you tell me which page?
Sure, Page 18, Beat count down.
"This indicates the number of bars or beats from the currently playing position to the nearest stored cue point"
Yeah, that doesn't mean it displays two modes -- the counter itself shows a number (the bars) and the four squares show which beat. It doesn't show a number of beats.
Hi @Pulse, I live in Brazil, and just received my XDJ-RX, 3 weeks ago. It works fine and I'm very happy with it. But this is one of the issues I'm having too. It simply doesn't show the numbers of bars left to the next cue point, even though i had marked hot cues previously.
Another issue is when I go on "Settings" on rekordbox (Mac) while it's connected through ethernet cable, and then go to "CDJ", "My Settings", all the ajustments i do, doesn't change on the XDJ. Even when i press "Apply on all connected devices". What should I do? Cause I really wanted to activate the "Eject/Load Lock".
Thank you for your help.
@Richie,
the Counter on the XDJ-RX shows the amount of Bars until the next Memory-Cue Point.

@Killian Thanks yes I realise this now.. It was a misunderstanding after using the Nexus 2000 prior to the RX. My display was always blank and noticed the 2000's count the beats/bars. I assumed this was the same feature.
@Richie,
you're welcome!
