problem with 2 songs on xdj rx but does work on cdj 2000 nexus

Dear Pioneer,

I have my pioneer xdj rx now for a week.

I have only 2 songs in my reaggeton section list. where i have problems with.

This is the video

https://youtu.be/FoGaG_brIWE

those 2 songs are:

Dirrty from christina aquilera

Dale don dale from DON Omar

Those songs do work on the cdj nexus 2000 but dont work on the xdj rx.

They also work on the computer on the laptop.

But i put them out of my computer downloaded the songs again. and put it back on the usb and they still dont work.

Everything by recordbox 3.2.1 and 1.5 from the xdj rx firmware any ideas why?

Maybe there are more songs with problems but i am still testing every song.

Laszlo has checked the offending MP3 for me (thank you for that) and has discovered that the problem is that the MP3 is encoded to 22KHz. I have thousands of MP3s and I'm sure there are maybe a few at least that could potentially be like this.

File type is not compatible, that's fine. But surely locking the whole system up is not fine at all - Pioneer can you please respond to advise if there is anything that you planning to do to stop an incompatible file from rendering the unit useless until it is either restarted or unlinked from rekordbox?

@Declan > My first question is how you got a 22kHz encoded MP3 - that is an unusual compression type.

rekordbox doesn't scan your files for errors as there are simply too many different types of errors to check for.

As for the deck not responding, did you try pressing and holding the back button?

Hi pulse

Yes I have unfortunately created some mp3s in that format 22khz. And I now know how

Previously I used pioneer cdjs and as such all music on CDs. In preparation for getting the xdj rx I started to rip my CDs to mp3. I started to use Nero which has a thing called mp3 pro- this was ripping them in that format. I've since been able to configure it to rip in 41khz.

I found a free program online to scan the sample rate of my mp3s and have been able to remove most of the offending files

However this issues still wories me as holding the back button doesn't solve it unfortunately. And I am afraid that at some stage I may load a file that the xdj rx doesn't like and it will do the same when I'm playing at a gig

Just to let you know Pulse, again I have tried to press and hold back button but it does not solve this problem, the deck still remains locked

I have replicated the problem time and time again to test, and it is definatlely when a file is in a format that the xdj rx doesn't like it will lock it up with the E-8305 message will appear on screen and I will be unable to load another track to this deck either by drag and drop on rekordbox or by the menu on the xdj rx.

Just off the phone to Pioneer and the guy confirms this is a known issue as he has experienced it himself. I can understand that a file wont be played if the xdj rx doesn't like the format etc, but locking the whole system up that is totally ridiculous and it appears that Pioneer have no plans (or none that the advisor knows off) to resolve this problem - this is poor to say the least.

Just a reminder guys, check and double check all your mp3s before using this system as there is no way on the unit itself to check the file prior to trying to load it and if you then do load a track which is unplayable (encoded in 22khz instead of minimum 41khz) then you are gonna have the same problem as me which is seriously frustrating and embarrassing to say they least when the whole unit freezes up when playing out due to a corrupt file

Seriously Pioneer, you are having a laugh here

@Declan > I deleted the post you made in the rekordbox section as it's unnecessary to have the information cross-posted.

The issue with not playing the tracks is one thing, but the freezing is certainly something that you should be able to back out of. I'll pass this information along to the engineers.

I will add, however, it is up to you, the user, to ensure the media you are using is of the correct variety. Just as you could put any grade fuel into the tank of your vehicle, the manufacturer recommends a specific octane grade for optimum performance.

Yes I would agree with u that its up to the user to ensure that the right files are used. But surely there needs to be a fail safe as this can happen very very easily and I don't think locking the entire system is acceptable at all. I think it's an issue that needs sorted...

As for ur anology to putting fuel into a vehicle which is not the optimum fuel or the fuel that's recomended - true..... But to use a car anology again, it's more like if u try to start a car with the wrong key, then hey off course it won't start . Then try to use the correct key and it will start... In this instance i am given the chance to make up for the error, the system locks up rendering it useless until it's restarted and that my friend is simply not good enough for a peice of kit like this
Thanks for ur reply tho and thanks for referring it to the engineers. Replicating this problem with an MP3 which has a sample rate of 22khz will show them exactly what I mean, and trust me it's quite worrying when this happens while playing out

I agree, it shouldn't come to the software even importing those tracks, but the way it is now, we have to advise users to take due diligence.

Hopefully we'll see some updates to the software and firmware for the players to avoid such problems in future.

Any news???

I have a brand new XDJ-RX with the same problem. I am using an LAN connection from the PC straight to the deck. It only worked once, never again.

I am extremely upset with this product.

What exactly is the problem your having, the same issue as I was having where certain ft tracks would completely lock the deck up, or it not connecting via lan and Dj link?

If it's an issue with connecting via lan to rekordox, I found issues with the windows firewall on occasions. Try disabling the firewall to test it (disconnect from wifi on pc first though to ensure you don't allow access to ur pc with the firewall of)
