[SOLVED] Traktor wont play certain music files?!

If they are supported and still don't play, where did you download them from?

Thanks for the comment. It is a MPEG-4 Audio File (.m4a) file.. i also have the 4x4=12 deadmau5 album that wont play on traktor. When you say supported what do you mean? do i have to do something to get them supported? Some other songs i have just got them of friends and i think they download them from youtube convertor. Just some tend to work and some dont.

It says right on Native Intruments' product pages:

MP3, WAV, AIFF, Audio-CD, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, non-DRM WMA (Windows only), non-DRM AAC 

As you can see, no M4A.

Just thought surely it would have played a song formated of the cd alright.. ill have another go and see how it goes.. cheers

For info! *.m4a is supported by Traktor, it's a AAC file. All tracks from iTunes has the extension .m4a and it's AAC files.

This is like when Gav said that the CDJ's didn't support *.m4a...

I have approximately 3500 *.m4a tracks and I use it with Traktor, Serato, rekordbox and the CDJ's!

I've attached a picture from the info view in iTunes (Note, it's in Swedish)

Forgot to mention that ALAC has the *.m4a extension as well, ALAC files also works with Traktor and Serato but not with rekordbox!

Correct, M4A is a wrapper and can contain various encoding types within the file itself, but it can also contain protected files (although they're usually MP4), and only iTunes can play protected files.

I've had the same problem in the past with Traktor not loading certain tracks. Here's a possible simple fix for itune users who set up playlist in itunes to use in Traktor. Make sure you have Quicktime installed. I don't know why it works but it does. It won't work if the file is truly corrupted but I very rarely get the load error on Traktor since installing Quicktime

I have been looking for ways to strip the drm off of 1000's of music files that I imported from cd and bought from itunes. Installing quicktime allowed me to play all of files. I dont know why nor do I care but it did!!

A huge THANK YIU to the guy that suggested downloading QuickTime you saved my ass fri nite for my weekend gig as I had purchased songs that wouldn't play in Traktor pro 2 and was devastated and confused. I have over 80000 tracks and was in a total mess. QuickTime was what it required. Thank you so much xoNikki

If you "analyse" a track and later on move it to another map, Traktor gives an error message. Right click the "corrupted" file, choose "relocate", then use the browser to open the track in it's new location. Most of the times, this will fix the problem, unless the file is truly corrupted.
