Organised tracks deleted

Hiya,

I've just spent days categorising all my music into carefully created playlists (loads!)...but then ran out of space on my computer and decided to relocate the source drive.

I used the backup feature and now all the folders exist on my external hard drive.

However, I had no idea how to get these back into Rekordbox.

I couldn't get the program to recognise a folder in the 'relocate' option so I decided to delete all my files from Rekordbox and re-import from scratch...till I realised that my playlists would still exist - but now with no tracks in them.

Can you help me restore things to my original setting?

...and if not, why is it so easy to make a mistake so devastatingly awful?

Thanks! :)

@Robder > The backup feature doesn't "move" the music, it creates a copy. The easiest thing would be to simply copy your music folder from the internal drive to the external drive, then select all your songs in the rekordbox collection and use the relocate tool to point them to the new location, and finally, move your database to the external drive as well so you can move the music around!

What you've done is destroy your collection, the best course of action is to locate your backup database (provided you haven't closed/opened rekordbox more than 3 times) and restore that.

Are you on a Mac or PC?

Hi - I'm on a mac.

I haven't really touched the laptop since it happened so all good (possibly).

Thanks!

Nope, Canadian. ;)

Open the Finder, go to this folder: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old
Rename datafile.backup.edb to datafile.edb (removing .backup)

Open rekordbox and see if it's restored.

If that one doesn't work, try backup2 or backup3.

Oh brilliant - thank you!

Only got half of it though - all the tags are missing. Are they not embedded in the files then?
