Playing with recordbox & two different pioneer controllers (XDJ-RX2 & DDJ-1000)

Hi,

I have two large questions for you guys:

QUESTION 1:
Me, A friend and about 6-8 others are playing a whole weekend on a mini friends-festival with 50-100 people this summer. All are hobby-home DJ.

We are the ones taking along our controllers. A DDJ-1000 and a XDJ-RX2.

As half of the dj group is used to either traktor or a controller they feel more confident with the ddj-1000 and the other half are already used to a usb and prefer the XDJ-RX2.

We are momentarily finding out what the ideal setup is for the group. And we would like some advice:
We prefer to have 4 decks available at all times seperately..

Our options:

  1. Using just the the XDJ-RX2 with usb/laptop(exportmode/rekordbox mode) So we have just two decks.

  2. Using just the DDJ-1000 with two laptops. We then have 4 decks, but switching decks is anoying if you are with two.

  3. A combination, directing the output to one channel of the DDJ-1000 (and keep this open)

  4. Would it also be possible to use the XDJ-RX2 just as a controller for two of the decks on the DDJ-1000 and then use the whole mixerpart of the DDJ-1000.

  5. Just use two channels on an external mixer so both the xdj-rx2 and the DDJ-1000 work like they always do.

Perhaps you even suggest another posibility. We still have 5 months to figure out what works best, but some advice would be much appreaciated.

QUESTION 2:
Connecting two laptops to the DDJ-1000 didn't work fine als we noticed the jogs display did not work with the macbook(3&4). The controlls worked. But not the display.

The windows laptop(1&2) worked fine.
Trying to find the issue we are thinking:
A. the macbook (it's old does work well in export mode on xdj)
is not powerfull enough)

B. We used the wrong sounddriver on the mac (is there asio for mac?)

C. some dumb setting we missed ( we are amateurs:))

Solutions would also be appreaceated...

My recommendation...

Connect the DDJ-1000 output into the XDJ-RX2's AUX input, then the RX2 output to your PA. That way anyone who wants 4 decks on the DDJ can use that, anyone who wants to use just 2 decks on the RX2, or play directly on the RX2. Connect the USB cable from a controller to a computer as needed, pop a USB drive into the RX2 to play music between DJs.

You CAN connect two computers to the DDJ-1000 simultaneously, but obviously any deck whose channel selector is set to the other computer won't have access to it, but all 4 decks would be available to both computers, just not at the same time.

Mac uses CoreAudio, which is better than ASIO (which is only on PC), so it wasn't the right driver, probably just a simple mistake somewhere. If the jogs say "NO DRIVER" for the Mac, just launch the DDJ-1000 Driver Version Display utility and that will go away.

You're not dumb, you're learning!
