XDJ XZ - Issue Loop In/Out adjust in Rekordbox 6

Hi,

When the XDJ XZ (Firmware 1.10) is connected to Rekordbox6 (latest version) I'm facing following issues when using XDJ XZ Decks as controller:

1. When in a loop: the LOOP IN / LOOP OUT buttons to adjust the loop in/out points are generally working but moving the loop points via the jog wheel is extremely "laggy" / strange in the reaction (it's not smooth at all). It works normally in USB/standalone deck usage and it works also perfectly in RB6 using the DDJ1000 ==> Is this a known issue and will this be fixed?

Can anybody confirm those are general issues or is it just my unit?

2. When in a loop: the "4-Beat / Loop Cutter" Button does not cut loops in half but instead exits the loop ==> will this be changed in a later update?

Regards

Rene

Short Update:

I just noticed LOOP IN / OUT adjust is working properly in Controller mode if I press the jog wheel platter down while turning. If I just use the side of the jog wheel it is not working smoothly in Controller mode (however this is working correctly in USB).

I was going to ask, are you sure you're not pitch bending it when turning the jog?

Usually I use the "outer ring" of the jog wheel to adjust the loop in / out points as this is much more comfortable and precise than turning the platter while pressing it down.

When in a loop, I press e.g. LOOP IN button and then use the outer ring of the jog wheel to shift the "loop in" point.

This is working properly on the XDJ XZ for the standalone decks but not in Rekordbox DJ when using XDJ XZ deck as controller. In this case the loop point is not shifted at all but after some bigger movement of the outer ring it kind of "jumps" so it is not possible to precisely control the movement of the loop points (which is required in case the loop gets very short in the process like intended)

(Also this seems to be not a Rekordbox software problem as it works also correctly/precisely with the DDJ1000)

I also quickly tested by disabling MASTER TEMPO to check if the outer ring is causing pitch bending when it does not move the loop point ==> the pitch stays same so no pitch bending is happening (as expected) but the loop point is not moving seemlessly.

I also don't think this is a defect of the unit as it works perfectly in standalone USB deck mode.

For me it would be important that the decks behave identical in Rekordbox controller as well as standalone mode as I would use both in parallel and don't like to remember which deck is running USB or RB...

Update:

I just noticed the movement of the loop point seems to be related to the speed I turn the outer jog ring. When moved slowly the loop point is not shifted at all no matter how long I turn the outer jog ring. When moved fast the point is moved correctly. (But this would be useless as when loop gets short it's required to make very small adjustments to the loop point)

@Pioneer DJ: Will this behavior of Loop in/out adjust in RB be fixed in a future update? Should not be a big deal when Loop point adjusting works when pressing jog down...
I'm just asking because I have 30 Day Money-back from my shop and can still return the XDJ XZ. Otherwise I consider keeping my DDJ 1000 instead.
Thanks

I also noticed a strange "noise canceling effect" or so in the headphone when adding the master signal to headphones so I returned the unit and keep the DDJ1000 for now.

If nobody else is interesting in the different behavior of the loop buttons in Rekordbox topic can be closed.

@Pulse - I have posted exactly the same issue before and have still not had an answer. I then contact the shop I bought it from who contacted their Pioneer Rep who said that this is just how the XZ has been built... which is absolute BS.

Can you PLEASE give us a decent answer, it has nothing to do with bending the pitch when trying to close or open the loop (In/Out Adjust) so what on earth is going on?

As above mine works perfectly fine with USB in standalone mode but as soon as it's connected to Rekordbox in performance mode there is the lag

I appreciate you do know your stuff and get bombarded with queries over and over but if you don't know the answer to this please point me in the direction of someone who can help as it's not right to spend nearly £2000 and the thing is not fit for purpose

I never got a reply from anyone on my original post so I would appreciate one on here instead.

Needless to say all firmware and software is up to date (as recently as last night) but this hasn't fixed the issue

@Graham Meeres: I was lucky and could return the xdj xz with money back. I actually ordered yesterday the Denon SC5000 as there was another huge price drop caused by the new SC6000. Still have my old DJM 800 so that should do for a while. ;)
