Do you have DHCP turned on or are you using a static IP for your internet port?

Windows 8.1 "Ethernet
Hi I recently acquired a DJM2000 and a couple of CDJ 2000s. They are all connected by ethernet via the hub in the back of the DJM. The CDJs and DJM talk to each other fine, however my laptop cannot see the DJM at all. I have gone through the installation process as described in the manuals. Firewalls and Anti-virus are off. When I try to Diagnose the connection, I get the message "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration". This happens whether the DJM is connected via the Computer 1 or 2 port.
Can anyone help with this please?

*looks around sheepishly* So I seem to have missed the part where it said... ensure all USB devices are removed.... as soon as I removed my USB drive, the laptop and DJM started talking...
