Key/pitch adjust without tempo change CDJ 2000nxs2?

So I'm wondering if it is possible to change the pitch/key without changing the tempo? This is very important if you mix in key, to be able to alter the pitch independently from tempo.

Cheers!

Not on the player itself, you'd have to use a pitch-change software or effect on hardware to achieve that result.

It's not actually. Most CDJ type players work a different way, they use pitch lock (Pioneer call their version Master tempo) which keeps the pitch the same whilst the tempo can be sped up or slowed down...

so in the CDJ case you have the ability to be able to alter the tempo independently from pitch

I would argue they're both equally important. If you are wanting to alter the key but not the tempo, you need that pitch shift ability. If you want to keep the key but change the tempo, you want the MT technology.

Oddly enough, they're named backwards... the master tempo doesn't keep tempo, it keeps the key (pitch). lol

I don't think you understand mixing in key Phil... What CDJ's enable you is save the key, but only that one key, while changing the tempo. Mixing in key enables chanching the key (best results up to +/-1 key) and locking it, while in the same time being able to change the tempo which is essential for mixing any music.

Just one question for you Pulse please... Is it possible this feature could be brought in a firmware update, since it's a touch screen?!

No, sorry. The GUI is finalized and that would be a rather large change to not only the interface but also the player operation. You will find that functionality has been included in most DJMs via the Pitch effect.

Pulse is this pitch effect you are talking about part of the DJM900nxs?
