Update collection -vs- Export Folder

When I'm done Rekordboxing and ready to eject my USB drive, I always select update collection and export folder. What does each command actually do? And do I really need to do both every time?

you only need to export.

Update collection is if you set cue points, saved loops, etc.... on a flash drive live during a set, you can then plug it into your laptop and "update collection" so the flash drive data for those tracks is backed up onto the main library
