Orange vs. Green cue points

I noticed when setting cue points that they are green when I set them before establishing the loop and saving that to memory, but if I establish the loop and then save the cue point, they show up orange w/ a small loop icon. What is the difference between these two methods? In the end, I have a loop saved for both of them, but one is green and one is orange w/ the loop icon.  What happens for this when live DJing?

You answered the question yourself -- orange is a hot loop, green is a hot cue. When you press the associated button, the player will jump to that point and either play or loop depending on what is stored there.

But it does that with a green cue too, if I've saved a loop after I set the cue. So there's no difference between the two?

If you have a loop ACTIVE when you store the hot cue (hot loop), it will be orange, and activating that will play back as a loop.

yes, but even if I save the hot cue and loop separately, the loop is still active, so essentially they're the same thing.

No -- you can store the hot cue as a separate cue and trigger that instead of the loop.
