DDJ 1000 ASIO crackling / stuttering on Windows 10

Hello,

I'm running Windows 10 and have a Pioneer DDJ 1000 and am experiencing constant audio stuttering / crackling. I've tried the following to fix it:

- installed the latest firmware (1.07)

- the latest version of rekordbox

- disabling c-states & intel turbo boost

- increasing / decreasing buffer size

- reinstalling the asio driver

- disabling all other windows audio devices

- de-fragmenting the HDD

- putting minimum & maximum power usage at 99% from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options

- switching between all available usb slots

- tried toggling off / on every power management / cpu virtualization / usb setting that I can find in BIOS

- Tried every suggestion here: https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/203057850-PC-Optimization-Guide-for-Windows

- Forcing a fixed paging file on my SSD

- Moving Rekordbox installation file to the SSD

But the issue persists - minor to severe crackling / distortion (it varies). At it's worst the music changes pitch downwards as if the PC can't keep up.

And it only occurs with ASIO DDJ 1000, all windows outputs work fine, the ASIO on my DDJ RB works fine as well. Everything works perfectly except for the ASIO for the DDJ 1000. And I need that in order to use the headphone cue.

Is there anything else I can try? Or is there any other way to have headphone cue out of the DDJ 1000 without ASIO? Tried ASIO4All but could not get it t work together with headphone cue out of the 1000, but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

The worst part is: this affects recordings as well, rendering the unit unusable for both playback and recordings, and it's most noticeable during quiet sections.

I've upload a short sample here: https://soundcloud.com/user-146680344/01-rec-2020-03-20

My specs are:

Asus Z170-A - i5-660K @ 3.5ghz - 16GB RAM

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you.

DJ Radu

Have you tried updating the BIOS for that computer?

What happens if you disconnect the power and run off the battery only?

Different USB port / USB cable?

Hi,

Wanted to reply earlier, but I wanted to make sure the issue was resolved since I had a couple of "false alarms" before.

Went into overdrive one night and tried a bunch of things, not sure what exactly fixed the issue since I restarted the PC after doing all of those.

- Backed up my collection and deleted the contents of AppData\Roaming\Pioneer

- Uninstalled Rekordbox (deactivated license key, since I wasn't sure if I would lose it or not after reinstall)

- Went into Device Manger, switched to "Devices by connection" mode, "Show hidden devices" and deleted ALL instances of every single USB/DDJ-RB/DDJ-1000 (there were about 10 copies mapped to various root hubs) /Keyboard/Mouse driver I could find in ACPI x64-based PC > Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System > PCI Express Root Complex > Intel 3.0 host Controller & ASMedia USB 3.1 Controller  AND the respective Controller drivers as well. (Had to restart the PC by pressing the shutdown button since I no longer had keyboard & mouse functionality)

- Updated by BIOS, this reset most of my settings, including activating Turbo Boost, and C-Steps. I left them ENABLED.

- Installed Rekordbox

- Installed the DDJ 1000 Drivers

It appears to be pretty stable now, I can play 4 decks + use the preview, no slowdown / crackling / weird audio issues. Had to put my latency to 512, since otherwise the ASIO driver would switch of randomly, but other then this small issue, everything runs smoothly.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
