Does reading a file through Rekordbox allow the small waveform to appear on CDJ / DDJ?
I do not want to import / export through RB as I want to keep my folder / directory structure (I do not only play on Pioneer gear). I don't really need the big waveform, but wanted to know if there was a way to get the small one without reading it first in a CDJ / player.

I think you're asking the question backwards... but yes, you can get a small waveform on a CDJ after the track is fully read / played the first time. You will lose out on many other features by not having the tracks analysed and beat-gridded through rekordbox though.
