hi , i have a ddjrx controller using rekordbox with a huge and well organised collection!
i am selling the ddj rx and purchasing xdj1000 - can anyone advise if i should keep my exisitng rekordbox and give the guy whos buying the ddj the new disc from the xdj or deactivate and use the new licence key?
Will i lose any music either way?
My recommendation - sell the hardware but keep the license. The XDJ doesn't come with one, so why give up that value? The new owner can purchase a license themselves, after all, the XDJ-RX didn't come with one when it shipped.

You can just deactivate your rekordbox dj license and use the free version of rekordbox with the XDJ-1000, you won't lose any music or cue points. The XDJ-1000 doesn't come with a rekordbox dj license, so you will need to purchase a new license if you want to use the XDJ to control software.
hi thanks for your help, my use of rekordbox has always been limited to organising playlists playback through the controller and recording mixes. Pardon my ignorance here i am a technophobe!!.....Can i still perform these functions on the xdj1000 if deactivating?
Yes, the free version of rekordbox allows you to organise your playlists and export them to a USB drive. Depending on what mixer you're getting you can also use it to record your mixes.
@Pulse the DDJ-RX is a rekordbox dj controller, the XDJ-RX is not.
Sorry, typo, but still the same thing. If you choose to sell the DDJ-RX, you can still keep the license and the buyer can purchase their own license.
I don’t know why anyone would buy a rekordbox dj controller if it didn’t come with a license, but sure.
Well, it's entirely up to you as to whether or not you want to give up access to rekordbox performance mode.
Besides, maybe they're upgrading from a DDJ-RB and already have a license!
