Probably a stupid question about Rekordbox import/export!

Hi guys!

So..i am currently updating mac machine, bought a new mac as well, and obviously i want to keep on using Rekordbox :)

Now..is it possible to import playlists back into Rekordbox from the usb stick that i use when playing out in clubs?

Or do i have to do a backup of all tracks and also backup the playlists on my mac over to a hard drive ? The reason why i am asking is because unfortunately i have not organized all the tracks the way id like to, so i am not sure where all the tracks are n stuff. This is an old mac..so thats the reason for its being organized so bad :)

So..in short..can i install Rekordbox on a new mac, and then just insert my USB stick that i use for dj´ing (w/ Rekordbox analyzed tracks/playlists) and just import the playlists/tracks from there into the new mac?

nope, you would have to duplicate you folder structure onto the new mac with the music file in them and then you can backup and restore in RB of the edb file from the old mac to new

Thats why I always have used external drives ;-)

Just copy the Pio folder to the other computer,  change letter on external drive if its wrong when connecting.

The location on computer is:  Local Disc (C:) / User / Appdata / Roaming / Pioneer / Rekordbox.

Copy all files but NOT licence file, and paste in the same Rekordbox location on the other computer.

Rekordbox stores an own Pioneer Music Folder you say??

yes but if your music is on your computer you have to move that also

some people ONLY use an external, all their music resides on it, the analyze it and re-export to it, this way you can switch between computers if you need and move the Pioneer info from computer to computer so the cues and waves come over

where doe your main music sit?

This works ONLY if you have the same musicfile structure and position on both computers.

Thats why I only use external drives ; )

exactly!

I use internal mainly because I still use my laptop "LINK'ed to the players and I don't want the laptop to have to pull the music live from an external, pass through RB and then to the players

There really should be an easier way to transfer libraries. A simple 'export collection' would suffice.

Well..the thing is..like i said in the first post..that some of my tracks are a little bit here and there on the mac hd! So thats why it would be perfect if i could just import from an already rekordbox usb stick. I´ll manage tho...just a little work that needs to be done then :)
