[SOLVED] DDJ-S1 mapping

Would like to see if Pioneer can answer this question,,without beating around the bush.

When we talk midi mapping, it means just that, mapping controls to a particular program function.

When I purchased my ddjs1 a month ago, I was under the understand that this is a midi controler hence you would be able to midi map this unit to different programs that use midi mapping.. After all it's "just" a matter of mapping it.

I understand that this unit was made around the Itch program,,which is fine, but "WHY" does the mapping seem to be such a friggin secret..???

Pioneer has had a long line of quality products and one would think the more versitile their product is the more demand for that product. Not so in this case,,at this point...

You might be able to tell i'm getting a very uncomfortable feeling about this purchase. I am a DJ from way back, and the one thing i have learnt is you have to be versitile in what you over to a client. At this point i am "very" limited using the ddjs1 as to what i can do,,in regards to video,,etc,,which i know,,is a serato thing,,another post another place..:)

If I want to map the S1 to Ableton, I simply open the program, check that my S1 is enabled as a controller within the settings, press Command-M (to enable MIDI learning mode), click on what I want to control with the hardware, then press, move, slide, etc. the button, jog, slider, etc. I want to use on the S1 as that control and presto.

What's so hard about that?  Why is it you think Pioneer's keeping this a secret?

I have tried to map the ddjs1 to VDJ,,,well this isn't working out well at all. Why vdj, because of the video mix capability,which itch does not support,, i seem to run into a door every time. VDJ won't distinguish between the different platters, just for example. I'm trying this with the mapping file from vdj forum.. It would appear that this unit will work with ableton by what you say,,but thats not a program i need to run.

As for the ddjs1 & itch,,they work flawlessly. Never been so easy. I know of no-one in this region that is using ableton for Dj usage..

THIS IS OUTSIDE your support,,but,,, If you know of another program that i can utilze, beat mixing, video mixing, & karaoke could you please pass it along.

Sorry to come across a little harsh,,but getting frustrated...

Vdj is a mofo to map. I sat for hours trying to get my t1 mapped and decided to wait till vdj support figured it out. Leds, scratching, and so on. Vdj staff has their hands. The controllers have a bunch of functions and finding a common ground to map the features to the functions is what is holding them up. If you are registered vdj user they have simple maps already.....

Rumor has it that Itch2.0 (due out later this year) will support the VideoSL plugin...

As for the difficulty in mapping VDJ, yes, it is a pain, but it's also quite powerful.  Information is on their site on how to do it efficiently.

Please some people say ITCH is the best  software controller but  this is not all

anyway is it hard to make the mapper for free just for ddj customer ? 

Plaese help me  I hate ITCH I am good Virtual DJ user ,I need Mapper

I have a lot of problem in my ITCH , and the costumer services didn't help me yet

I can't make auto loop , remix , cuz no auto BPM ...

ITCH is not comfortable

Steve,,,is it a problem with the actual software,itch,,or is it just getting yust of a new program..?

Software issue can likely be resolved,,,the mind,, is another thing..:)

I started using the computer, strickly, for Djing back in /99.,,up till a month ago....I started with mixmeister,,simple,easy,and stable. About a 1 1/2 yrs ago i started getting more into the video presentation along with the music. Using clubdjprovj program. Very nice features,etc,,but no beat mixing on either side,music or vids,,,all though beautiful transitions,etc..

Well, time to get the old school feel back with the new teck ease. DDJS1 did this nicely,,,but now i'm stuck with no video,,as yet..

The S1, I was able to get into right off,,the first day on it,,,"sweet"..Got that feel of real mixing back into hands on control.

As the previous post mentioned they "might" be incorperating the video into itch later in the year,,we'll see.. Would be a great move and their part if they did.

The way i've over come the S1 and video is i'm running the clubdjprovj program & itch at the same time. Acually works quite well.

 The way i've done this is to use the firewire connection through a "firebox" back into the aux on the S1. Then use the soundcard on the laptop to moni and setup the vids in provj program. The only thing is i have to open the provj program before opening itch, otherwise itch will take over the firewire connection..:(   All in all it will work out..

Hope the mapping file is some help, if you don't have it already....enough babbling for me..

For anyone reading this thread -- the S1 is fully supported within VirtualDJ; just select it from the devices list under the Mappers within the settings and you're good to go.

Dear Pioneer Team

I have a big problem with Mapping the DDJ T1 with Virtual DJ Pro 7.

I Have the Map XML file but i cannot control it from my DDJ T1 ... 

Do you have any Solution for this Bug ?

why would you want to map a ddj t1 to virtual dj when traktor as just as simple to use and offers more creativity in the mixing. if anything why dont you upgrade to traktor pro 2 or 2.5?

@WalD > Pioneer doesn't officially support the T1 with VDJ; you'll have to contact their forums for support or details.

vdj has an 80% map with working led's.  you have to be a premium member to access the download

That's the DDJ-T1; the DDJ-S1 is fully supported and simply requires a renaming of the device (Mac) for it to work.

can any1 help with vdj mapping to ddj s1? ... my mac wont let me rename the audio device name and i add a pluggin as it says "current licenses do not allow you to download Controllers"

any1 any suggestions .... i also am not a fan of itch
