[CLOSED] nexus menu, waveforms, usb hdd recoknizing-reading.

Hi all, after the first impression of the 1.06 firmware and cooling down from the enthusiasm of the fixed stability issues i can be more objective after 2 weekends at 3 gigs with the players.

So i start with a problem that i had also in 2k players but not so often, in fact it was rare. When i insert a usb hdd, half of the times the players don't read it right (i guess) and when i navigate to a folder most of the mp3's are missing, or even all of them. I have to unplug the usb, and plug it back in, often more than 2-3 times to get it right.
The menu need much improvement. I know you wannt to give us more and more possibilities with this players, but dont sacrifice the usability because of that... In the nexus players when i wannt to sort by bpm (for example) i need to hit menu button, then 2 times the jogwheel. On the 2k this is going faster, we dont need more sub-menus that make ur lives harder and... slower.. Also when i exit the folder i don't wannt the player to remember how i sort the tracks befor i exit, because when i go to another folder i have the same sorting from the last, but i wannt there to be the default sorting.. That was ok on the 2k, but on the nexus we need more to do know..
Hot cue load times.. Like in another thread with Brichi we said that there is no difference at the load times with the 2k's, in fact, the 2k's are even faster! This is unacceptable for me, cause one of the basic reasons i bought these decks is the hot cue auto load. I disable this option from rekordbox until the hot cues are loading fast enough (for these decks, and that means a lot faster than the 2k's).
The larger waveforms dissapear! I mention it more often when i use the link to play from usb of the other cdj. This happen also when i play a track directly from the usb connected hdd, but not so often. I would say about 30% when i play a track via link, and 15% via usb.

There is a way to go yet with the players to get them right for me. I still prefer to play with me "old" 2k's. And don't get me wrong, i love them, and i am thankfull for the stability problem wich is resolved with fw1.06. And when i see that great djm2k update, i realise that you guys do care and get this all fixed. I just hope soon!

My setup: 2 ssd hdd's 180gb usb3.0, audio format mp3 (most 320), all mp3's analyzed with rekordbox, and checked for errors with mp3val.

Agree totally with 2&3

The menu is much slower to navigate and also get rid of the animation between menus, the 2000mk1 goes from screen to screen much faster because there is no swooping animation, we don't need it, we need speed, this is my mk1 to nexuse comparison video, the Nexus is on the left and you can see how much slower it is for me to jump back and forth between a playlist and tracks compared to the mk1 on the right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cf2GwF3ON0

#3. Exactly! The mk1's load the hot starts much much faster, this needs to be fixed Like you said, I am happy with the decks now that they are stable, but lets get them 100% on the features we bought them for.

Brichi my bro! Thanx for the video, is exact what i mean. No animation is needed here. It's not a iphone... It's a pro gear and we need it to work fast most of the times. Faster use, makes me (us) more creative, for example when i use acapella's or just some sample's or sounds. Not everyone own's 4 nexus decks like the promo video.. So it's really very necessary to improve that speed on the menu, or just give us the option to disable some things.

There is more about the menou and the sorting. When select to sort bpm like, then i go out of the folder and back in, or in to another folder, i got still the bpm sorting, but no bpm displayed at the right, just the titles of the songs with bpm sorting...

When i go in to a playlist on the left of all tracks i see a halfcd-vinyl icon... On the 2000's there is a number depending on how you have the tracks sorted at the time. That was way more usefull then a icon.....

Stil waiting for a reply from the mods.

Sooooo..... I wanted to be a little more clear about what i mean by that half-vinyl icon....... i hope that pictures are clear enough. who needs the vinyl icons there instead of numbers?? i have 2 identical usb drives, and when i navigate to a playlist of one of them, i choose to play a track, then i see another track i may want to load to the other cdj and there it was really usefull to have a number like in the 2k's (picture). i really dont see ANY LOGIC to remove numbers and put this icons there.... usability=0.

also the playstate, which makes our lives really harder (and slower) is allready mentioned befor, but.... it really dont need to be there... we only need the sort menu there, nothing else who makes it slower to sort.... guys please think like a dj.. we need speed.

tasos, I have complained about this too, it's crazy, the menu is slow because of animation we dont need, the album art column should be able to be turned off for people that dont use it, takes up useless space, when goin in and out of playlists the sort does not match, mine says bpm yet it's not sorted in bpm, here are some videos on both

Omg thats exactly what i mean about the sorting thing... Thanx Brichi you save me time to make new video.. Well.... I thing the nexus players should continue from latest 2k's firmware. That means nexus firmware 1.00 should be 4.30 from the 2k's. But this is not happen here. Should we wait until they reinvent a usable fast menu??? I mean do we have to wait until 4.xx firmware again on the nexus??? Guys from pioneer bring the new features of the nexus without loosing all the good stuff from the 2k please... I can't wait anymore to use this 4k euro players as they should be used.... Should i sell them and buy another 2 2k's??? ................. PLEASE FIX* THE MENU USABILITY AND SPEED.

*FIX because it need to be fixed, and not changed.

Yes , all is true!

I don't need the vinyl icon ( album art) ....

At that place I want To see for example the KEY.

If you would sort by TRACK , you would see the FULL track name + the key in one line!

Now when I sort on Key , I only have the title displayed...
