rekordbox dj not working

I recently installed rekord box 4.0 and accepted the 30 trial. My computers date/time reset and rekord dj rudely ripped all the new gizmos and gadgets stating my trial expired. I have tried reinstalling and deleting all registries that can find and still I am unable to take it for a spin. Any

suggestions from the tech help crew would be greatly appreciated...

Solution!

For users who cannot start trail, please advice them to do the following steps.

  1. Open the file named "activations.xml" with Text Edit or Notepad depending of their platform.
    The file is located in the folder below:
    Mac: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Pioneer/rekordbox
    Win: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox

  2. Delete two lines which start with "<init_done ..." and "<trial ...". If you don't have both lines, just delete one of them.

  3. Restart rekordbox.

  4. Make sure you input administrator's password (for Mac) / click Yes (for Win) on starting up.

If you have any information as to what might have changed on your system prior to the trial expiring, please provide those details here so the rekordbox team can investigate the cause.

OLAH Adam. Could you add more info about your computer model & OS??

Usually just needed make a recovery from a restore point system near in time & install again the program but read carefully your recovery options before.

Also you can update the calendar/time options before to try install RB 4 again.

Having a very similar issue, I only used RBDJ once. The next time I tried to use it - trial expired. After re-installing RBDJ & restarting my mac, the trial button goes blue when I click on it, but it doesn't actually start the performance mode trial? The software just reverts back to normal rekordbox mode. I'm using a SX2 & would like to try it again to see if it's really worth the money. Any help will be appreciated.

Ahh alas its a problem with Mac and Windows...

Windows 7 64 bit
Toshiba satellite s5120
I think I've figured out the problem. I just installed rekordbox 4 on a separate computer and it worked fine. The issue is you need to locate all binaries and master file records for rekordbox and delete them (easier said then done as the files may be hidden by defualt by pioneer to avoid mistaken deletion). That should solve the problem unless pioneer pioneer software has some unknown way of checking for already trials used for a computer (highly unlikely but possible).

Thanks for your response.
The software has only been available for a couple of days, so it's obvious that the trial can't have expired yet. I'm not gonna start hunting for hidden files, If Pioneer isn't interested in helping potential customers sort out issues right at the start, you can bet it'll just get worse as time goes by. Pioneer can either give me a proper fix or I won't spend money with them - simples.

@Arthur > We are certainly interested in helping you, but 12 hours is an unreasonable expectation of time to solve your issue.

As @adam noted, you can try a full delete / reinstall of the software. I'm not sure what caused your trial to expire prematurely. Follow these steps to fully remove / reinstall rekordbox on a Mac:

1) Backup your database (either through the software using File > Library > Backup Library, or by copying the database file:

~/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox/datafile.edb

2) Remove the following folders:

~/Library/Application Support/Pioneer/rekordbox
~/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

3) Remove the rekordbox application file, empty the trash once you've done the above.

4) Reinstall rekordbox from the package file.

5) Open rekordbox and login to your KUVO account.

Please let me know if this works or if you need additional instructions / assistance.

Thanks for your assistance Pulse.
I did as u said (removed the files & app).
However it still does nothing when I click on 'start trial'.
Everything seems fine, I have my controller plugged in, yet the performance mode just doesn't activate anymore. Wierd!!

@pulse might I suggest it be an open iquiry for Mac and PC users, as it seems to be a wide spread issue. Cheers to Japan!! We're banking on your superiority.

Iám have a some problem, install her Rekordbox 4.0, but don't delete a old 3.3, in my install iám haver bleu trial activation button, but don't open performance display...
any help?

Hi,
I've done all the changes suggested in this post, but unfortunately none worked for me. Try unistall RB, edit Atctivation.XML, delete .XML, having lost up my music library, I am not formatted the MAC, and will not do because it would be complicated reset two years of work, honestly I do not understand what may be occurring...
