After cueing up the first beat, I noticed that the CUE button (and play) is delayed, maybe 2-300 ms. I updated the firmware with no luck. I don't have any other CDJs here to compare it

Do you have QUANTIZE enabled?

Try it with quantize disabled to see if it performs more to how you expected.
