CDJ-2000NSX2 to support FLAC. XDJ-1000 firmware update to follow?

It was mentioned here that the current line of the players will not support flac due to the hw limitations.

I did see that. I find it difficult to understand why the reading of a codec is a hardware thing. Unless it's a marketing thing to differentiaite different hardware models.

To be honest I also don't believe much to the hw limitation. Maybe for the original nxs but not for the xdj where the performance is something completely different.

I haven't seen the service manual for the xdj and its schemes but I guess that its processor is able to handle the decoding without any issue.... Anyway - I own exactly 0 tracks in flac so it doesn't hurt me much :-)

I also understand that they have to differentiate the nxs2 somehow (you know - not a technical revolution so lets kill it with the software features - no matter if they screw all their current customers because they already paid.......) :-)

there are other nice small things I'd like to see from the nxs2 - the new phase meter, tag filter, new link over one usb and so one but honestly thats nothing what will ever make me to sell my beloved xdj and purchase the ridiculously overpriced nxs2.... :-DD

Yeah I'm happy. Been playing FLAC thoguh tracktor with everything HID connected. Very quick to setup.
