Importing ratings/mem cue and hot cue points from exported USB back to collection?

I've been searching and searching for quite some time now on this one, hopefully this specific one hasn't yet been answered already. Please point me to the thread if so...

I know iTunes allows this. But can you export your tracks(I use playlists to do this only, or folders of) onto a USB device, then edit on another PC in RekordBox your ratings/cue/mem points, and then re-import back again? I know you can do that on the controller/deck for ratings at least.

Thanks in advance,
Al

If you are bringing that content back into the same computer where it originated, yes. Simply right-click on the USB device and select Update Collection.

Many thanks for the reply Pulse, appreciated.

If I'm using a 2nd PC for the editing and adding of cue/mem/ratings on the USB stick, and later I reconnect to the original 1st PC with collection on, should I then be able to update collection and see all 3 of these in the collection?
Thanks again.

I'll back the cart up to the original question...

If you are exporting from Computer A to the USB drive, then putting the USB drive into Computer B, you are UNABLE to edit the contents. It's like an iPhone / iPod with iTunes -- it will only synchronize with the original host database; you can't take it to another iTunes collection and dump your music into it.

IF you are wanting to have a "portable" database, I recommend you follow the instructions I've provided in this article, it will allow you to put your music and database on an external drive to easily move between computers.

The answer I gave above only allows you to update the collection when changes were made with the CDJ to the export USB device.

Ah, understood.
Explains why it worked from doing it on the fly from my xdj-rx.
Thanks again Pulse.

@IO > There are ways of doing that, but I don't recommend it as you'd still need to have the music files sync'd as well, and for most users, Dropbox doesn't have enough space for their entire collection.

So here's my situation, hope you can help. Had some issues with my PC that led to me having to reformat and lost my Rekordbox data. Fortunately I had everything saved on my USB. I was able to import all the tracks from the USB in to my collection, however they didn't carry with them any of the Rating info.

I've tried right clicking the USB and updating collection to no avail. Really would love to get that info back as I have about 400 tracks I've painstakingly rated and now I'm scared to update the USB for fear of losing all of that. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

@Mrshoes7 > This probably comes a bit late, but if you updated and had no backup, it's gone for good.

Same problem as Taylor and Wadzilla. My MacBook harddrive crashed, lost all my data except my exported USB drive. Imported all my music to my new Macbook right now from my USB. But is there a way of getting my Hotcue's back? Would be a hell of a job to manually reset 1200 Cue points..
