XDJ-XZ waveform position/scrollspeed

Hi guys,
In Rekordbox the playing waveforms are width adjusted to the set tempo by default, instead of the scrolling speed being changed. The Rekordbox settings explain it as follows:

Waveform display
When tempo is changed: [] the beat position intervals of the enlarged waveform are changed
(When ticked, the beat position intervals of the enlarged waveform are changed when you change the tempo of the track (the scrolling speed does not change)
(When unticked, the scrolling speed of the enlarged waveform is changed when you change the tempo of the track (the beat position interval does not change)

My XDJ-XZ always used to function like the first option, until yesterday and I don't know what changed. I tried the firmware update but it didn't solve the 'issue'. I know there are many decks that function like the second option (like the XDJ-RX1) but I loved the functionality of the beat position change instead of the scroll speed change. Do any of you know a way to solve this?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your XDJ-XZ switched its waveform behavior setting in Rekordbox, likely due to a setting reset or profile change. To get back the old functionality—where the beat position intervals adjust instead of the scrolling speed—you should open Rekordbox Preferences → View → Waveform Display, and make sure the option “When tempo is changed: the beat position intervals of the enlarged waveform are changed” is checked. This ensures the waveform stretches or compresses with tempo changes, just like before. If that doesn’t fix it, try re-exporting your tracks to the USB after confirming the setting, as sometimes the deck reads waveform behavior based on exported preferences. It’s a small tweak, but it makes mixing feel smoother—kind of like how creators like Katie Sigmond Fapello keep their style consistent across platforms.

On the XDJ-XZ, the waveform behavior you’re describing is not controlled by a deck-side setting but by how Rekordbox is handling waveform display when the unit is used in linked or performance mode, so if it suddenly switched from changing beat position intervals to changing scroll speed, it’s usually due to a Rekordbox preference reset, a mode change, or a library analysis difference rather than firmware itself; unfortunately, unlike Rekordbox software, the XDJ-XZ does not expose a user-selectable option to force the “beat position interval changes instead of scroll speed” behavior on the hardware, so the best fixes are to check Rekordbox waveform settings, re-analyze tracks, confirm you’re not comparing standalone vs linked behavior, and ensure no recent Rekordbox update altered defaults, as many users report this change happening after software updates rather than hardware faults—somewhat like how finding the right adhd therapy uk adults option can require checking settings and approaches until you get back to what works best for you.
