DDJ1000 Questions

1.  Is the PAD EDITOR functionality available for the Pad System on the DDJ1000?

if its not... thats a huge design error.

2.  Is the beginning of the track hard stop error in RekordboxDJ fixed with this controller release?

Its really annoying that when you beat jump back further than the number of beats you have progressed into the song that the error in the beat jumping functionality breaks the quantization feature and the track hard stops on the first beat and starts playing breaking the phrasing between the tracks.

3.  Did you install an access panel plate to get to the channel faders without taking out all the main boards from the back of the unit for a channel fader repair?

1) Not sure, don't have that information yet, but I expect it may be considering there is now a "page" system.

2) That's a software issue, not hardware. If anything, test the 5.1 beta and see.

3) The DDJ is not designed for user-servicing and should be sent in for repair or fader replacement.

1) As I said, I'm not sure, but given that there are "pages" to access multiple sets of pads, I wouldn't see why not.

2) That's a pretty narrow reason not to use rekordbox, and I can tell you it's not high on the priority list because I think I've only had 3 people mention it. Ever. I know it's been discussed, but I'm not sure if / where it is in the process of implementation.

3) Or possibly that it's a decision made based on the design and construction of the unit, similar to how the iPhone is now less user-repairable than previous models. It's not necessarily intentional, but if you want to tell yourself it's to drive customers to the service shops, you're welcome to believe that.

You can go in and edit the MIDI assignments to map out the pads as you wish, the reason there's no editor for the controllers is consistency.

Hi

How far will we be able to modify what is displayed on the screens?

Will there be a zoom function for the waves? Can we turn on/off certain things?

I am also wondering how the channel fader are going to behave. Linear, bumpy from the start or pretty quiet up until 7-8+

@Frederic > I'll have a hands-on this weekend, haven't yet, but given that the marketing materials and video all say the same jog as the CDJ-2000, I'm going to go with non-capacitive.

@Thore > Per above, I haven't played with it in person, but I'm sure there is some customization that is available, and it likely changes what's shown depending on the mode you're in. More info to come soon, ditto the fader.

You can remove 'display cue scope' and 'artwork' from the jog screens.

The channel fader curves can be adjusted into the software : exponential, linear, logarithmic.

The jog wheels are mechanical ones like a CDJ 900/2000 and so on.
