DDJ-SX3 losing play/pause when you interact with the platters

I'm using Serato DJ Pro with the DDJ SX3 on a Macbook Pro. Anytime I do any scratching, or spin the platter too fast on a manual search, the deck stops playing although the play button remains lit. If you hit the play/pause the play button goes on and off in correlation with you pressing play/pause, but the deck doesn't actually play any more. At that point, pressing and holding a hot cue button is the only way to get any playback. It happens on either deck, every single time no matter what track you load up. I got this controller a few days ago and haven't been able to properly use it. I deleted and reinstalled the drivers multiple times, I'm not sure what the deal is.

@damian > What is your computer spec?

@FliGuyCeo > Answered here; it's likely your computer's OS is incompatible as it does not meet the minimum requirement of 10.11.

my MacBook is running high sierra
i5 25ghz
4 gb ram
5oo gb hrddrive over 150 gb space
its not my MacBook thats the issue, it runs my sx2 fine on the same serato software

Yep... Have sent the unit back for testing at the store as it was unusable in a professional environment... They have yet to replicate the fault on their Imac but my macbook is more than up to spec:

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

High Sierra 10.13.6

480 GB Solid State SATA Drive

Serato DJ Pro - version 2.0.3.

Machine works fine with DDJ SX1 and Denon DS1

May just get me a Denon controller or try the SX2 if this doesn't get sorted this week as I'm not happy that this isn't going to fail in the middle of someones set.

my MacBook is running high sierra 10.13.6

4gb ram 

500gb hard dive 

i5 2.5ghz

it runs my sx2 on the same software with no issues whatsoever, it has nothing to do with computer specs, this is a hardware issue ,i.e there are a batch of faulty units that either need replacing or a firmware fix A.S.A.P

i am very close to returning the product !

I just tested the jog wheel sensitivity setting change on mine - the issue disappears if I change it to the lowest setting but it comes back immediately when I bring the sensitivity back up.

Just to humour the suggestion I went ahead and updated my Macbook to High Sierra and it's even worse now. I can't play anything at all.When you press buttons on the controller it lights up on the screen, but it doesn't play a thing. It's really useless now.

Hi all, having same issues too! Today was a night mare at my event! Just about got through luckily I only had an hour to play and winged in! Furious with this unit! Is it faulty or a needing firmware and software update? Help! I should have waiting a few months and stuck to my Sx2 that I dearly miss now!

I unplugged my external hard drive and started Serato DJ Pro with only the controller plugged in and the problem went away. I havent gotten the play/pause button to stop working yet. I decided to plug the hard drive after playing with it for a good 30-45 mins and the play stopped working after doing a few scratches on the platter. I think we’re getting somewhere.

Hey everyone. I have been having this same issue. I thought it was a hardware issue, so I returned the SX3. After being unable to find an sx2 to buy and use instead, I caved and got another SX3. When I started playing with it, the same problem came back. I backed up my computer and wiped it, restarted it and stilll had the same issue.

It’s truly astounding to me how there’s yet a software or driver update and that the issue is still being investigated with absolutely no solution. This issue has been going on with multiple users for over two months and absolutely nothing has been found or done. DJing is my living and having this issue is keeping me from making a profit to take care of myself; it is extremely frustrating to see so many other buyers with this same issue with absolutely no solution.

I wish everyone luck and I hope that a solution can be found quickly.

Also, another issue I’m experiencing with this bug is that when I lose play button interaction, I also lose keylock interaction.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6)

The issue is being investigated, and unfortunately there is no absolute solution yet as they are still working to determine the cause since it does not happen to every SX3.

So I must have gotten lucky that one time with the hard drive unplugged and everything working fine. Trying to figure out this issue has led me down an never ending fox hole it seems. Me trying to update my OS, although I didn't think that was the issue has led to incompatibility issues with my hard drive and a bunch of applications, which led to me trying to restore my older OS, which had my macbook out of commission for days. I finally got it rebooted on High Sierra, erased and reinstalled the drivers as well as updated serato dj pro to 2.04 and now I'm right back where I started. Touch the platters during playback and they stop and won't work again unless you exit Serato pro and turn off the controller. This is going on 6 weeks and I want to throw this controller out of the window now. I should have just bought the newest Numark, I never had any issues when I had my NS7 FX! 6 weeks to figure out one bug that multiple people are having seems unreal to me. Can't make any money doing any events or functions because this thing is unusable.
