My macbook Pro is connected to my DDJ-SX3 on USB B and I can control the fader & volume and see that it is communicating on the macbook.
It will not play or load songs though. I am running Yosemite OS.
I have my IMac connected on USB A and it is working perfect

Just installed it and the same thing. I can use rotation knob to scan through playlists & songs but cannot load or play a song from controller. Playing it manually does not show on controller either (volume level)
should I use USB B on my iMac to make sure its not the controller ?
What do you mean "USB B"? The "B" end of the USB cable is on the SX3 side.
I just switched USB's and my iMac will not play or load. So it has to be the controller correct?
