Audio distortion when loading tracks

Regularly, but not always, when loading up a track on a deck the audio become distorted/clickey during the load. If recording the distortion is present on the recording which is particularly problematic.

I've tried increasing the buffer size using DDJ-1000 setting utility but it didn't make any difference. Sometimes it becomes very consistent and restarting the software sometimes resolves it for a while.

Setup is:

Desktop PC - Intel i7-4770K, 32GB Ram, Window 10 Pro
DDJ-1000 Controller / Audio Interface

Many thanks,

Tas

That you make a reasonable effort to clean your computer so that only the essential software and services are installed and running so you can get the most out of it. And if you've done that and still have problems, please file an inquiry ticket here and our support team will gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.

I saw some posts related to this and already tried it but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem.

I can also confirm that it does this without the DDJ-1000 connected.

Well, that would certainly point to an issue in your computer. Given that your CPU is a 4th gen i7 released 8 years ago, I'm going to lean towards your computer needing an upgrade, or at least a bit of work to disable any unnecessary background tasks, services, or applications which may be using system resources. You're going to need to squeeze as much out of that thing as you can.

I really don't think that's the issue.

Yes, it's a old processor but more capable than some of the newer processors - and anyhow it easily meets the minimum requirements you list for the product. I've already monitored the performance of the machine and established that there is nothing else loading the CPU and it seems likes rekordbox isn't even touching 10% usage of the processor, even when loading the track. To me it really looks like something going on with the the rekordbox code and to be honest the fact that turning off turbo boost is resolving problems for people pretty much confirms that the coding isn't quite right. I suspect there is something deeper at play here and I think it's fair to try and consider alternatives to "buy another computer".

@Tasos > Simply "meeting" the system requirements doesn't mean there isn't other stuff going on in your computer occupying the resources (CPU / memory). rekordbox typically consumes 10-35% CPU when idle, even on a new computer.

I'm not suggesting you buy another computer, but again yours is 8 years old. Even if the CPU meets requirements doesn't mean that the pipelines it's on (GPU / memory / storage / peripherals) aren't also being saturated with data.

Disabling the turbo boost prevents the processor limit from jumping around -- this solution is not unique to Pioneer DJ products / software.

Well, I did check and no aspect of the computer performance is saturated. It^s working fine, The processors speed jumping around is only a problem if coding has not taken this into consideration.  If you aren^t suggesting I buy a new computer, what are you suggesting?
