bugs with Rekordbox and DDJ-SP1 plus software recommendations

List:

1) when using the Track filter option the "Key" value to filter by is in musical note and it cannot be change to a camelot format which is what the "key colum" display after "Reloading Tag" from itunes.

2) The "Reloading Tag" from itunes as well as comverting itunes "Group" info into Rekordbox "label" do not stay on the filed after closing the software or loading the track to a Deck.

3) The DDJ-SP1 sync button after disengaged it will not reset the track back to it original BPM value.

4) The DDJ-SP1 button at the bottom right on the right side, is locking up by it self or sensitivity is out of balance. The case is that it will act as if you pressed on it when you have not.

5) The track information on the Deck is not editable to show better yet add the genre.

6) Future software improvement should include the ability of the software reading the genre ID3 tag and selecting the proper BPM range for track analysis. For genre that it may not recognize it should open the range from at least 58 - 200 range.

@Landy > Thanks for your feedback. I have answered your comments below:

1) Camelot format is not supported by rekordbox; the Camelot notation can be used however it is not supported in the key field when sorting / matching. Camelot notation requires licensing which we do not currently have for rekordbox or our products.

2) What is the filetype of the song for which you're experiencing this issue?

3) This is normal; it's known as software-pickup mode. You must move the pitch fader of that deck to the value it was at when the deck was in sync mode, then you can reset it to 0%.

4) You're the first to report this; can you get it on video?

5) Are you asking to edit the track metadata on the virtual deck itself? Why not simply edit on the collection list? The track is shown in green with a deck indicator so you know which track it is, you can even open the info panel to the right to provide more in-depth field availability. And no, the genre is not shown on the deck itself, there's only so much room.

6) You can selectively re-scan tracks if needed, with a different BPM range.

@Pulse or assisting tech > Thank you for your reply.

1) I understand the issue with the Camelot notation and the filter track by Key, yet instead of trying to use the key field as the filter why not using the comment filed which is already where camelot value are store from the itunes library. The key factor is that when you "reload ID3 tag from itunes" the key field in record box display camelot values not the musical key use in the filter by key music section witch is a great feature. or use a microsoft excel filter scheme right on the browser view.

2) To be honest I put all my song thru a software called "Platinum notes" which conver if the song is not already MP3 to MP3 plus it adjust the gain and other aspect of a song. It is basically a way to improve the song quality if need be. So what I'm saying is that the song file type is MP3. But I will research it and summit more data to you.

3) The issue is that I'm using DVS and when I move up or down the tempo fader of the turntable I see not change after I have released the sych on my DDJ-SP1. I did not see a midi map option to set back the BPM back to the original track tempo, that could be a way around it.

4) I will do the video and send it in. but just to touch on it one more time, the case is that if I press the near by button several time in a row, the bottom right sampler pad button on the right side only active. If I am on cue point mode it will creat a cue point at that time, if I am using the parameter function in which a particular effect can be activated by pressing the Pad, it will activate by what appear to be cause by being to sensitive to vibration around it.

5) Well this particular issue is not a big deal, I guess I would have to add the genre to the name field but what I was asking was if the genre of the song could get display as the name of the song or artist name shows on the song info field of the deck. It just look to me that there is plenty of room for that info to show on that are of the software.

6) The main point I am getting at here is that the DJ will save time in going thru the trouble of changing the BPM range setting of the software for every song he add to the library of rekordbox. All DJ software analyze the song so it can create the bit grid. The software do not build a bit grid base on the info on the ID3 tag for the BPM of the song which is included when you buy a song or if you do it outside of the DJ software. This feature of the software recognizing a genre and applying the proper bit rage and doing the analysis base on that will be far more efficient and more productive to the DJ. unless the software create the bit grid from the BPM all ready on the song when it is imported. The issue that also come across is that if you build a play list outside of the DJ software, once you add the song to the library of the DJ software it will change the BPM of the song and partially cause some issue with your pre-made play list. Bit grid is very important for feature such the "slicer", "Looping", "bit Jump" so proper bit grid goes with proper BPM.

1) You can use the comment field for that content, but the comment field can't be filtered the same way as the key field.

2) If you can provide step-by-step details as to what you are doing and what changes that would help.

4) It could be the pad is faulty, but getting a video would help.

6) We recommend you check all tracks for grid accuracy, and in doing so, you would note which tracks are not captured within the right BPM range, which is exactly why there is are 1/2x and 2x buttons on the grid edit mode; so you don't need to re-scan them, but rather change the value quickly.
